Taking cues from boundary-pushing artists such as Parcels, Tame Impala, and Temples, the track is a whirr of spacey vocals and delicious guitar licks, accelerated by a driving beat, with the band breaking the psych rock mold in an enchanting fashion. Complimenting the cosmic musicality of the piece, frontman Zeppelin Hamilton lyrically examines human connectivity and false hope.
Speaking of the track, the proud Wiradjuri man says, “‘It’s Only Human’ comes from a space of contemplation, introspection, and surrender; when ideologies that once felt safe now feel constrictive and the idols once followed now feel flawed. It is a comment on the human condition and the places we turn to put ourselves back together when all feels lost.”
To celebrate the release of their brand-new single, Velvet Trip will be hitting the stage at The Vanguard in Sydney on September 24 to showcase the latest hit live for the very first time, along with some unreleased tracks – tickets available here
In other huge news they will be joining Byron Bay-by-way-of-Berlin five-piece Parcels on their massive headline tour in October across Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
The tune represents something of a comeback for the band who released their debut EP, Velvet Trip & the Six Moon Skies, back in 2019 to much acclaim from Australian press resulting in sold-out shows up and down the east coast. Landing sync deals with Wrangler, General Pants, Pandora, and Fender, momentum was rapidly building for Velvet Trip until Hamilton broke his hand skateboarding.
After doctors told him it would be unlikely that he would play guitar again, Hamilton was gifted a MIDI keyboard from a friend to stave off depression – a move that would shape the future of Velvet Trip. Spending all his savings on recording gear, Hamilton went to write without his guitar and band for the first time, dedicating himself to melodic exploration and building songs from the ground up, as opposed to the jam-centric format of earlier Velvet Trip releases.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
