Sydney psychedelic duo Velvet Trip have today shared their latest offering ‘Silly Boy’. The new single, which premiered on triple j Home & Hosed, is a blend of jangly guitars, swirling synths, driving bass and hard-hitting beats.

Discussing the track, lead singer Zeppelin Hamilton says – “Silly Boy is a tongue-in-cheek jab at viral skits, social media, and 15 minutes of fame. I used to make viral internet videos until things got a little out of hand. It took hitchhiking around Australia, a crocodile farm in Darwin, and breaking my foot in Indonesia to call it quits on that part of my life. Fake it till ya make it baby!”
Velvet Trip are gearing up for a single launch show at Waywards in Sydney on July 29 to celebrate the release of their latest single – tickets available here
Today the duo announce their much-anticipated debut album Harmony Blooms, set for release on Friday, November 3. Previous hits featured on Velvet Trip’s forthcoming debut album ‘Moving On’ and ‘It’s Only Human’ have garnered support from triple j, editorial support on Apple Music/Spotify, and landed at #1 on the AMRAP Metro Charts.

Zeppelin reflects – “In my head, making an album was going to be an easy task – write some songs, record them and buda bim bada boom… Glastonbury haha. After a pandemic, breakups, band members leaving, broken bones, health scares, 3 AM remote mixing sessions and spending all my money on microphones whilst learning how to use logic… I guess it wasn’t that easy.
For it to be finished and ready is already a big achievement for us in itself and we are very proud. This album represents growth, exploration of identity, heartbreak, friendship, resilience, and a lot of love.”
Travelling throughout Europe and Morocco with a guitar, $100 in his bank account and a broken hand, Harmony Blooms was created in Zeppelin’s leather book.
“It was a weird time. When I came home to Australia, I had an album.. but shortly after, the world came to a halt. Clay and I were living together at the time, and we basically had no choice but to start recording the album together in the garage. Eventually, we took everything to Phan Sjarif at Parliament Studios to get his expertise on the project. Over the next 2-3 years we co-produced Harmony Blooms together.”

In the wake of two single releases, Velvet Trip was featured as “ones to watch” in NY Times (T Mag) and RUSSH. Lead singer Zeppelin Hamilton was also recently selected to be part of Mushroom Groups ‘First Nations Pathway Program’ for 2023 and is currently undertaking a mentorship with the likes of Mo’Ju and Tasmin Keith.
Velvet Trip also grabbed the attention of Daft Punk collaborators, Parcels and toured as their main support act for their entire run of sold-out Australian shows. Velvet Trip performed at iconic venues such as The Enmore, The Forum, and The Tivoli.
Velvet Trip also notably performed at the Sydney Opera House alongside Wiradjuri poet Jazz Money and was featured on the ABC program ‘Going Country’ with Emily Wurramara.
Velvet Trip’s forthcoming album Harmony Blooms is a technicolour experience with nods to Air, Khruangbin, Tame Impala, Parcels and Temples.
Velvet Trip is an ever-evolving entity moving in unexpected directions. Take a trip.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
