With two exceptional EP’s released under her new moniker Vetta Borne, Melbourne based Maribelle Añes, returns with her latest offering ‘Rose Avenue Vol .1’, out now via Soul Modern. The EP follows on from the release of ‘Violeta’ in 2020, and ‘Emelia’ in 2021, making her one of the most prolific and exciting producer-singer- multiinstrumentalists the country has to offer. Whilst the former EPs were a means of exploring her new identity whilst paying homage to her influential grandmothers, ‘Rose Avenue Vol. 1’ sees Vetta Borne burst right out her shell. Sonically, the production is another jaw dropping example of Vetta Borne’s undeniable expertise as a producer having created the whole project from start to finish in her bedroom studio, displaying her multifaceted talents sampling various drums, whilst laying down her own smooth electric guitar, bass, and synth lines throughout. Whilst lyrically, Vetta Borne displays her vulnerability as the project deep dives into the heartbreak at the end of the relationship, with each track representing the various stages of grief, and coming to terms with the personal loss of connection.
Sharing her personal journey in writing the new project, Vetta Borne shares, “Writing this EP was hard. Writing Rose Avenue Vol. 1 was my therapy, my way of trying to understand and process the ending of a relationship that had meant a lot to me. I spent a lot of time in my bedroom, the lyrics came easy as I was just pouring out what I was feeling, but the production was what I spent a lot of time focusing on. I tried different variations of each song, trying to keep the emotion of the songs, but at the same time make sure they were well produced.”

‘Wasn’t It Good’ provides the seductively smooth entry point, setting the tone for the entirety of the EP with its undeniable groove forged by a sly 90s beat and Vetta Borne’s delicately playful and bouncing melodies. Juxtaposed by the “hardest hitting” record on the EP ‘The Joint’ sees Vetta Borne managing to caress the listener with heavy drum accents, whilst providing her dramatic RnB pop diva ballad to her ultimate comfort. Laced with lustrous, sexy and alluring vocal work with a driving, yet smooth bassline and beat, ‘Say Less’ could truly only be described as a cross between flirtatious and funky – indulging in its own pleasure and seductiveness, playfully suggesting more yet saying less. Released as her first song of 2022, ‘Sad Girl’ is a bonafide jam featuring the silkiness and funkiness that have become synonymous with a Vetta Borne production, all topped off with her alluring and hypnotic vocals, singing out “I will not cry ‘cause, I’m done being a sad girl”, and reminding herself that she’s “THAT bitch!” Closing out the EP, ‘Sex Therapy’, is another symbol of liberation and returning that love back to yourself, the driving beat coupled with subtly silky saxophone lines and Vetta Borne’s raspy renditions, reminding listeners again, that sometimes the best way to take care of themselves, is to take care of themselves.
Born Maribelle Añes, the Melbourne artist re-introduced herself to the Australian music scene with style. Her transition into Vetta Borne began in late 2019 to early 2020 with her first two singles ‘Hey’ and ‘R.I.P’, immediately cementing her career and collectively amassing over 1 million streams. Building on that momentum, the incredibly talented artist then went on to independently release her third single ‘Girls’ which accumulated notable support from NME, Junkee, Music Feeds and now surpassing a massive 4 million streams. Following on from a wildly successful year in 2021 and having released ‘Sad Girl’ just earlier this year, the Filipino/Australian songstress has continued to garner major support within the industry. Being labelled by triple j as an “acclaimed hitmaker”, Vetta Borne scored high rotation on triple j with the release of ‘Kissing Strangers’. The artist then followed with her sophomore EP ‘Emelia’, and later performed an original and a masterfully crafted cover of Gwen Stefani’s ‘Cool’ for triple j’s Like A Version. Vetta Borne is no stranger to triumph having accumulated a string of major support from platforms such as the Nova Network, KIIS, Hit Network Nights, Acclaim, NME Australia, Tone Deaf, The Music, Life Without Andy, Music Feeds, Women In Pop, Purple Sneakers, alongside many more, and also proving to be unstoppable by being announced as the Unearthed Feature Artist in 2021.
The young artist’s abilities run deeper, as she has acquired an arsenal of accolades, proving without a doubt, to be a formidable producer, writer and performer. She has written, performed, arranged and produced her last three EP’s, but further proving her immeasurable list of abilities by having co-written and being featured on a myriad of tracks both locally, and internationally. Vetta Borne’s striking vocals have been featured on Carmada’s ‘On Fire’, Young Franco’s ‘Miss You’, ‘Girls Don’t Cry’, ‘Angel’, Tentendo’s ‘Thoughts’, and on Ukiyo’s ‘Good Enough’. She has also co-written and produced George Alice’s ‘Circles’ and ‘Teenager’, Kira uru’s ‘Chillin’, co-wrote with Becca Hatch on ‘2560’, Thundamentals on ‘My Friends’, and both produced and co-wrote ‘But You’ for the Kpop powerhouse group iKON.

The tour kicks off on 11th November in Bondi, before heading to Sydney, Wollongong, Brisbane and Melbourne. Full details below.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
