WASHINGTON’S Batflowers LP is out today and flowing rapidly are glowing reviews from across the country. Also announced today is an additional Brisbane show (Sept 15), added to her sold out Brisbane show’s and a new Cairns show (Oct 24).

The title song is a pairing of palm-muted guitar with three-part harmonies that swim across verses before opening up into a pulsing ‘80s rhythm. The music video is once again crafted by Megan on a children’s app.  This song was the first song that made sense for the album, written with friend Rabitt in LA and then polished by Mario Spate in Adelaide.

“This song is about coming out of the worst place into the sunshine again, and a reminder especially when the current situation feels dire and impossible to come back from, that this too will pass if you just keep going which is a constant, beautiful reminder at the end te song”.

The album brought together a host of friends and producers including New Farm neighbourhood pal Konstantin Kersting (Mallrat, Tones and I, The Jungle Giants), Meg’s frequent co-writer and collaborator Sam Dixon (Sia, Adele), John Congleton (Moses Sumney, St Vincent, Angel Olsen), Dave Hammer (Jess Kent, Mia Rodrigues, Genesis Owusu) and Japanese Wallpaper (Mallrat, Allday). The album also features cameo appearances from a curious range of performers like Sam Fischer and Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint). Little rhyme or reason, unless of course you’re the one writing the story.

The creation of, ‘Batflowers’, was an exercise in getting to the raw guts of why anyone makes music at all. This search ultimately armed Meg with a kind of brazen bolshiness, handing her a baton long presumed lost so that now she can finally run the whole damn show.

Megan has been busy in the last month leading to the album with an astounding performance on Q&A, showing all her kookiness on her performance on ABC’s The Sound, and an interview last night on The Project. The reviews are the best in her career and she will just keep going.
