With his gorgeous poetic imagery, calming delivery and endearing tones from the nylon string guitar, Whiskey Jack tells a story from the heart in his new single ‘Wild Card’, out today.
It’s been a big year for Whiskey Jack, and with the success of his latest singles and second EP ‘Extra Luck’, he is setting himself up to be worth betting on. Ahead of his upcoming tour, Whiskey Jack has just come back from a week in Sydney, where he met and was mentored by Angus and Julia Stone as part of the Wild Turkey House of Music 101.

‘Wild Card’ is a softened and vintage-like take on the indie-folk genre, appealing to the nature of heartbreak and relationships cut short. With charming repetition, a whistling-infused refrain, and gambling imagery, this song is perfect for those lazy Sunday mornings and cozy rainy days.
Produced by Perth’s Dylan Ollivierre who also joins in on the piano, ‘Wild Card’ features beautiful cello, double bass and backing vocals performed by Amy Skellern and gracefully performed drums by Jack Seah.

Lyrically, this song explores how it feels to burn bright and bow out of a relationship without getting a proper farewell. His metaphorical approach echoes the elusive nature of a feeling and how difficult it can be to explain it literally. Whiskey Jack describes the meaning behind this song as:
“This song is about the highs and lows of going through things together, and being there for someone even while watching them repeat the same mistakes.”
From beneath the brim of a well-worn hat, Whiskey Jack plays his ‘Wild Card’ (out now). Catch him on tour throughout the end of August and September, details below.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
