Chart-topping disco king Cerrone is bringing his electronic funky beats to Brisbane Powerhouse with a performance featuring a compilation of his reworked catalogue. The French disco artist, drummer, singer-songwriter and record producer has sold over 30 million records worldwide, including his influential and popular tracks from the 70s ‘Love in C Minor’, ‘Supernature’ and ‘Give Me Love’. Known for his innovative use of blending electronic music with disco, funk, and soul elements, Cerrone’s ability to create dancefloor anthems is simultaneously nostalgic and futuristic. Throughout the years, Cerrone’s music has been sampled by major artists such as Public Enemy, Jamie XX, Daft Punk, Run DMC and Paul McCartney, demonstrating the enduring influence and significance that his work has displayed over the decades. Just last month, Cerrone released his latest single ‘A Part of You’, created using AI technology and sampled vocals from Disclosure’s 2013 hit track ‘You & Me’. Get ready to groove to the timeless tunes of Cerrone by Cerrone as the French disco king takes the stage at the Brisbane Powerhouse this June.
A pillar of Melbourne’s music and queer communities, Cash Savage has spent the past decade making tough and tender rock’n’roll with her colossal band, The Last Drinks. Earlier this year saw the release of two singles ‘Keep Working At Your Job’ and ‘$600 Short On The Rent’, the latter of which was the focus single for their highly anticipated album So This Is Love, released 28 April 2023. The two singles encapsulate the album’s theme of fragility, exploring the precarious nature of mental health, economy, environment, and personal relationships. The band is set to bring an emotional and intense live performance to the stage with magnetic frontwoman Cash Savage at the centre of the storm, expertly leading The Last Drinks with energy and panache. Their cathartic shared experience refuses to give audiences an easy ethical bypass by asking themselves the hard questions and to step up.
Desire Marea is a unique artist and a culmination of many voices, a mouthpiece for a choir of spirits and entities. The South African-based artist has gained international recognition for his work as a musician and traditional Nguni spiritual healer. Desire’s music-making process is rooted in his connection to his ancestors, channelling different spirits, truths, and the essence of light to heal people through his music. His latest album On the Romance of Being, was recorded live with an ensemble of thirteen musicians. The eight-track album sonically combines post-gospel, spiritual jazz, and the ancient music of the Nguni and Ndau peoples. The tone of the album fosters stillness while reflecting on notions of truth, romance, sexuality, seduction, and connection to nature. Prior to his solo work, Desire Marea was a member of the beloved Joburg collective FAKA, who toured the world extensively, including appearances at the 9th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, Unsound Festival, Roskilde, Sonar, and Australia’s very own Dark Mofo festival.
Joining Cerrone, Cash Savage and The Last Drinks, and Desire Marea this winter is Icelandic singer-songwriter Aìsgeir. One of Iceland’s most successful exports, Aìsgeir has spent the 10 years since his record-breaking debut album pushing the boundaries of his textured, thoughtful brand of folk-pop. Don’t miss this very special event, when Aìsgeir brings his acclaimed discography to the stage at Brisbane Powerhouse this June!

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
