AIR is thrilled to announce that it will place a total of 90 mentees for this year’s intake of the 4-year women in music mentor program supported by the Commonwealth Government. See the full list and further details HERE
The Women in Music Mentor program is a four-year nation-wide mentoring and training program aimed at empowering women in the Australian music industry. The program is open to all female, female-identifying and non-binary participants working in or aspiring to work in creative (solo artists, band members, songwriters), technical (engineers, producers, etc.) and/or business roles (managers, promoters, record labels, etc.) within the Australian music industry.
In addition to mentoring tailored to each mentee’s unique and diverse skillset and needs, the mentees will participate in a professional development program with a focus on contract negotiation, financial literacy, marketing and leadership.
Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cites and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, said the high intake of 90 mentees placed for the second round of the Women in Music mentor program is a reflection on its success.
“As the arts sector recovers from the pandemic, the professional capability of sector leaders will be vital – which is why this program to empower and educate women in the Australian music industry is so important and so timely,” Minister Fletcher said.
Maria Amato AIR GM said: The first round of the program was a huge success and we received great feedback. This year, the demand for this incredible program remains strong with another diverse group of mentees from all sectors of the industry seeking to participate. It is an honour to be delivering a program that aims to empower, educate and aid the progression of career development.
“This program had so much to offer. The amount of webinars and short courses, as well as the opportunity to further my professional development with the assistance provided by AIR has given me so many opportunities that I would otherwise not have access to. I have gained new skills and deepened my understanding of the broader music industry which in turn, has greatly increased my self-confidence as a woman working and operating within the industry. I would highly recommend this program to program to others.” – Hannah, 2020 mentee from regional Tasmania
“Loved it. Thank you to Maria and the team at AIR for creating a terrific program. Was thrilled to be part of it and was impressed at the diversity and volume of offerings. WIM is setting a new benchmark for mentoring programs!” – Chelsea, 2020 mentee from Melbourne
Applications for next year’s intake of mentorships will be announced in May 2022

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
