Fresh off his special live performance earlier this month, Yung Lean shares a new single and video, “Violence”, out via now YEAR0001.
Commanded by low-end beats and rhythmic drum sequences, Yung Lean’s warping sonic output launches a hook hand in hand with soaring yet deeply defined, sombre raps. His reflection on a tale of fame and the fleeting emotions tied to it brings his acclaimed storytelling voice to the front once more, a feast for a frantically loyal worldwide fanbase. Produced by Whitearmor, the track follows previous single “Boylife in EU” and is accompanied by a dual visual for “Violence” and preview for the forthcoming track “Pikachu”. Co-directed by Marcus Söderlund & Yung Lean, the video sees Lean in uniform with a distinctive costume piece, repping the single solo in various run-down locations for a timely commentary on isolation in the state of today.
With this release, Yung Lean continues to tease a new project with “Starz coming soon”, and arrives after a special live stream performance earlier this month. Yung Lean live @ the back of the truck presented a unique live stream set mixing classics, rarities, and new tracks played from the back of a cargo truck in Stockholm’s Frihamnen Harbor.
Since his first upload “Ginseng Strip 2002” exploded onto the internet in 2013, the world-famous, seemingly overnight, Lean has continued to outdo his success with each release, including studio albums (Unknown Memory, Warlord & Stranger), mixtapes (Unknown Death 2002, Frost God and Poison Ivy) and countless one-off singles. His most recent full-length, 2019’s Nectar, was easily his most far-out and found a new type of freedom with poetic art rock, drawing comparisons to Bob Dylan and Beck. Notably, the album came within days of a more straightforward Lean rap single produced by Working On Dying (Lil Uzi Vert, Drake). Less a reaction or evolution, this was more like a rare gem rotating, sharing new and unexpected facets to his evolving artistry.
Little over 6 years since the inception of Yung Lean, his diversity and resourcefulness has given rise to a variety of side projects and collaborations. From alt-pop solo project JL96, post-rock experiment Död Mark (together with his day-one producer Gud), writing credits on Frank Ocean’s Blonde, a Calvin Klein modelling assignment, a signature shoe with Converse and his own clothing brand Sadboys Gear.
Watch and listen to “Violence” today, and stay tuned for more from Yung Lean coming soon.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
