North London soul-pop sensation Zak Abel has unveiled his brand new track ‘Love Song’.
‘Love Song’ is yet another example of the young singer’s remarkable knack for euphoric and uplifting song writing. Zak worked with legendary pop producer Steve Mac (Charli XCX/Ed Sheeran) on the track, and the partnership has resulted in a song that marries Zak’s raw and spine-tingling vocals with Mac’s trademark production and is sure to be an instant fan favourite.
“I’ll be honest with you, love song is the first ‘angry song’ I’ve ever put out. It’s about distancing yourself from the people that keep you down and the negative perspectives that no longer serve you. It’s also about reclaiming your self-respect and living in line with your values again. It’s an important song for me, but it’s not a love song!” – Zak on the song.
The release of this track follows Zak’s triumphant, sold-out, homecoming show at London’s iconic Shepherd’s Bush Empire. The gig was Zak’s biggest headline show to date, and marks his third sold-out London show in 12 months, with sold-out shows at KOKO and Scala also under his belt.
Zak’s popularity extends far beyond his native UK though, with the soul singer also selling-out venues and being playlisted on radio stations all across Europe. In France, after Justin Bieber pulled out of the NRJ awards, such is Zak’s popularity over there he was the logical replacement to fill in to perform For You with David Guetta in front of a television audience of over 5 Million people. To date Zak has been streamed over 70 million times worldwide.

A singer with an obvious gift for song writing, Zak has not only penned hits for himself. Having recently written for the likes of Niles Rodgers, John Legend, Paloma Faith and Sigala to name a few, it is clear to see that Zak has not only become an internationally recognised pop-star, but songwriter too.
Released last year, Zak’s debut album, Only When We’re Naked, is a stunning, striking record that examines the frailties of the human condition with exceptional results. The first single was the brilliant ‘Unstable‘ which has, to date, been streamed over 33 million times on Spotify alone. The track received massive support on UK Radio, being play listed on both Radio 1 and Radio 1 Xtra. The album also featured such stand-out tracks as ‘Rock Bottom’, a collab with UK grime royalty Wretch 32, ‘Deserve To Be Loved’, which was inspired by the death of his father and sees Zak at his most raw, and also the smooth, classic sounds of ‘The River’. Collaborations on the album include songwriters Eg White (Adele, Florence and the Machine) and Cass Lowe (Ivor Novello Award winner for Snakehips ‘All My Friends’), as well as some incredible new talent, including Danny Shah, Lawrie Martin and producer Sky Adams.
In 2015 Zak caught the attention of tastemakers everywhere by releasing two EPs, Joker Presents… and One Hand On The Future. Including collaborations with Kaytranada, Tom Misch, Joker and Karma Kid and featuring stand out tracks such as ‘Say Sumthin‘ and ‘These Are The Days‘, the EPs garnered over 3 Million streams on Soundcloud alone and received widespread support from, amongst others, respected tastemakers Julie Adenuga and Zane Lowe (Beats1), Radio 1’s Mistajam and Annie Mac, i-D and Noisey.
