‘DESIGNER SADNESS’
out now via DIRTY HIT
Taken from her upcoming EP
I HATE PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET

Following the release of her hugely successful single, ‘Napalm’ – which came out towards the end of January and has already amassed over 555k streams worldwide – the electrifying Zheani returns with new single, ‘Designer Sadness’. Out via Dirty Hit, it is the Australian-based artist’s latest track to be released from her upcoming EP, ‘I Hate People On The Internet’, and is yet another example of Zheani’s abilities as a multidisciplinary artist and musician.
The single is accompanied by a new music video which was self-produced by Zheani alongside collaborator Mik Shida who directed and edited. In the music video, Zheani is a technofiend that enters a metaverse of her own creation. A vibrant and chaotic dimension designed to deep fry her dopamine receptors. A place where identity is fluid and the possibilities are infinite. But in the real world every action has a consequence and sinister truths always lie beneath the surface.

Speaking about ‘Designer Sadness’, Zheani said: “Designer Sadness is about the insecurities forced into our minds by corporate marketing psyops and the sad ugliness of consumerism”
When discussing the creation of the music video, Mik Shida said: “I edited for 200 hours in just 20 days and now I feel dizzy…”
To date, Zheani has built a reputation for writing culturally poignant music that chastises many of the problems rife within the modern world. ‘Designer Sadness’ is no different as Zheani tackles the inherent problems attached to a society degenerated and stripped of meaning by consumerist culture. Zheani remains brutally honest throughout her music, a flawed protagonist, she’s the first to admit she is just as susceptible to base products designed to fill the existential hole within our overly socialised and dying culture “In ‘Designer Sadness’ I can decry consumerism, recognise its ugliness but still tell the truth, I do intend to ‘make a million in this crisis’,” she says, “and I sure as hell will spend it on designer to try and make myself feel better”
‘I Hate People On The Internet’ has been produced by Zheani, King Yosef, and Mik Shida, with additional production by Catherine Marks. It is set to be released on 23rd March 2022 via Dirty Hit, with the EP artwork still to come. The full tracklist for the EP is available to see below, and it is available to pre-order now using the link below.

Praise for ZHEANI
“Good music” – Grimes
‘Important, venomous piece of protest art’ – Alt Press
“Existing somewhere amid the fluid, genre-smashing netherworlds of emo rap and trap metal, Australian artist ZHEANI is fearlessly pushing buttons and being her own goddamn self” – REVOLVER MAGAZINE
“experimenting with cold-blooded pop” “coasts on blunt-force electronics” “ZHEANI stands her ground and speaks her truth” – THE FADER
“an industrial banger” “Really dark vibes” “New, fresh, cutting edge electronics” – Anthony Fantano, The Needle Drop
“Somewhere between the visceral grit of Death Grips and the blindingly bright, Auto-Tuned sheen of 100 gecs, there’s a hyperpop/trap-metal goldmine dying to be tapped. On this wonderfully discordant, boundary-pushing EP), Zheani digs into that mine like she’s got a body to bury in it.” – NME
“Zheani is to 2022 what Alice Glass was to 2008; vibrant, irreverent, powerful, authentic and totally unique.” – The Music
“It is searing music that is affected and definitely affects you, it always makes an impact when you listen to Zheani” – Declan Byrne, triple j
“She oscillates between an autotuned benevolent nymph with zen-yet-drippy beats, and a tortured soul screaming over trap metal. While grappling with very real trauma and remaining raw and unfiltered, Zheani also conveys a distinct optimism as part of her message.” – Office Mag
“There are artists that talk. Actually, there’s a lot of them. Then there are the artists who move in silence; meticulously plotting their next move, scheming in the wings in no rush to show their hand. There are considerably fewer of these artists, ones like Zheani, whose moves are so deliberate, so calculated and genius that there’s every chance we won’t notice anything is happening until it’s already upon us.” – BLUNT MAGAZINE
“Here’s a few reasons you need to pay attention to Zheani. For one, few rappers can rival her work ethic. The multidisciplinary artist is perpetually creating — she delivered three EPs over the past two years and in 2021 has already dabbled in the world of NFTs, dropped a new mixtape and captured the attention of international stars like Grimes. Importantly, her ability to build a career that’s entirely DIY, self-sufficient and situated outside mainstream lanes makes her a force to be reckoned with. And the music itself — which fuses metal, trap, pop and electronic elements, topped by raw and unfiltered rhymes — puts Zheani in a lane of her own.” – Red Bull

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
