Melbourne Zoo is thrilled to announce its annual summer concert series Zoo Twilights will return in 2019. Running each weekend from 25 January to 9 March, the Zoo Twilights concert series will see an incredible array of Australian and international musicians performing in Melbourne Zoo’s world-class grounds. The Zoo’s lawn will transform into a live music destination like no other, with all proceeds from ticket sales going back into Zoos Victoria’s efforts to fight wildlife extinction.
Leading the charge this year is acclaimed songwriter and producer Cat Power. Back in Melbourne for the first time since 2016, Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) comes armed with her tenth album Wanderer. Described as “a remarkable return from an iconic American voice”, the new record marks 25 years of music making for this legendary musician, and includes guest vocals from Lana Del Rey and a powerful rendition of Rihanna’s Stay.
Hearing the new material alongside her rich back catalogue as the sun sets over Melbourne Zoo will be an unforgettable moment.
Yet the most important part of Zoo Twilights at Melbourne Zoo is the cause behind it all. All proceeds from the concert series go directly to saving the Eastern Barred Bandicoot from extinction.
Extremely cute and very shy, this species of Bandicoot is listed as extinct in the wild on mainland Australia, but after five years as the flagship species for Zoo Twilights – and over 25 years of recovery efforts – there are now more than 1200 bandicoots in existence. A ticket to Zoo Twilights can help fulfil the dream of recovering this species.
In recent years, Zoo Twilights has played host to world-class acts including Neil Finn, Cut Copy, Ben Folds, Paul Kelly, Hiatus Kaiyote and Charles Bradley. Cat Power is the first name on the 2019 program, and will be joined by other international greats and iconic artists from Australia, with the full lineup announced 8am (AEDT) Wednesday, October 24.
Zoo Twilights invites concert-goers to pick a spot under the stars on Melbourne Zoo’s lush lawns for an unforgettable night of music. Taste of Twilights, a huddle of some of the city’s best food trucks and pop-up bars, neighbours the stage and serves up brews, snacks and street food. Zoo Twilights is an all-ages even.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
