Melbourne Zoo is thrilled with the overwhelming support its 2019 Zoo Twilights concert series has received to date, with an unprecedented demand for tickets so far resulting in seven sold out shows and three additional dates added.
Hanson have added a second show that is heading towards a sell-out. The Cat Empire have already sold out two dates and last tickets for a third and final concert are on sale now. A full update follows below.
Today, responding to demand, Zoo Twilights is delighted to announce that a second Cat Power concert has been added to the event series on Sunday 10 February.
Setting the stage for Cat Power is Jen Cloher, whose politically charged master songwriting has sound-tracked life in Melbourne for over a decade. Her self-titled 2017 record earned her both Double J’s Australian Artist of the Year award, and a position as a figurehead for Australia’s DIY music scene.
All tickets for Cat Power’s first concert sold out in just a few days. Tickets for her second show are on sale now.
“The response to this year’s Zoo Twilights line up has been incredible,” said Melbourne Zoo director Kevin Tanner.
“Just four weeks into the campaign, we have already sold over 75 percent of all tickets available. That’s wonderful news for the Eastern Barred Bandicoot, which is the focus of Zoo Twilights fundraising.”
Zoo Twilights invites concert-goers to pick a spot under the stars on Melbourne Zoo’s lush lawns for an unforgettable night of music. Taste of Twilights, a huddle of some of the city’s best food trucks and pop-up bars, neighbours the stage and serves up brews, snacks and street food. Zoo Twilights is an all-ages event.
The most important part of Zoo Twilights at Melbourne Zoo is the cause behind it all. All proceeds from the concert series go to saving the Eastern Barred Bandicoot from extinction.
The Eastern Barred Bandicoot is listed as extinct in the wild on mainland Australia, but after five years as the flagship species for Zoo Twilights – and over 25 years of recovery efforts – there are now more than 1200 bandicoots in existence. Zoos Victoria is currently planning the release of these animals and training a team of Maremma to protect them from predators. A ticket to Zoo Twilights can help fulfil the dream of recovering this species.
Zoos Victoria is grateful for the support of AGL as Zoo Twilights presenting partner for a third consecutive year. AGL is proud to continue supporting this exciting and unique Melbourne Zoo experience.
Zoo Twilights is taking place on land that belongs to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We pay respect to this country’s First Peoples past and present.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
