Melbourne Zoo’s huge Zoo Twilights 2019 concert series is about to get even bigger with the announcement that Australian electronic music legends The Presets will hit the Zoo stage on Saturday 9 March.
In June 2018, The Presets returned with their first new tracks in almost four years as well as their acclaimed fourth album ‘HI VIZ’. The album hit #1 on iTunes within hours of its release. Singles ‘Do What You Want’, ‘14U+14ME’, and ‘Downtown Shutdown’ topped Triple J airplay charts and have since accumulated over 10 million streams. ‘HI VIZ’ went on to receive two ARIA Award nominations, followed by a sold out national Australian tour and 15 dates across the USA.
The Presets have been recognised worldwide for their dynamic live performances, playing hundreds of shows domestically and internationally, including key slots at iconic festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, SXSW, Exit, Melt as well as one of the biggest sets at Splendour In The Grass 2018.

Formed back in 2003 after Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes met at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, their catalogue includes their 2008 release, the chart-topping 3 x Platinum selling ‘Apocalypso’, that featured five hit singles including the classic ‘My People’ and went on to win 7 ARIA awards including Album of the Year.
They have also collaborated individually with many other artists over recent years. Hamilton co-wrote Flume’s hit ‘Say It’ and contributed to tracks with Flight Facilities, Steve Angelo and Meek Mill. Moyes produced the new album for the DMA’s and has created remixes for artists including The Drones and The Jezabels.
Speaking about ‘HI VIZ’, Hamilton and Moyes said: “The whole message of the record is inclusiveness, and it’s a party, with an open invitation.” A perfect match with Zoo Twilights!
Zoo Twilights 2019 is shaping up to be Melbourne Zoo’s most successful concert series ever. An unprecedented demand for tickets has so far resulted in 11 sold out shows and four additional dates added.
Also just announced for the series are pop/rock outfit The Million. Hailing from the NSW Central Coast and supporting the Hanson brothers, The Million’s summery sounds will make the perfect soundtrack to your Twilights visit. A full update on the line-up follows below.
Zoo Twilights kicks off on the last weekend in January with final tickets on sale for the January 26 event featuring Briggs, Archie Roach and Alice Sky.
Zoo Twilights invites concert-goers to pick a spot under the stars on Melbourne Zoo’s lush lawns for an unforgettable night of music. Taste of Twilights, a huddle of some of the city’s best food trucks and pop-up bars, neighbours the stage and serves up brews, snacks and street food. Zoo Twilights is an all-ages event.
The most important part of Zoo Twilights at Melbourne Zoo is the cause behind it all. All proceeds from the concert series help save the Eastern Barred Bandicoot from extinction.
The Eastern Barred Bandicoot is listed as extinct in the wild on mainland Australia, but after five years as the flagship species for Zoo Twilights – and over 25 years of recovery efforts – there are now more than 1200 bandicoots in existence. Zoos Victoria is currently planning the release of these animals and training a team of Maremma to protect them from predators. A ticket to Zoo Twilights can help fulfil the dream of recovering this species.
Zoos Victoria is grateful for the support of AGL as Zoo Twilights presenting partner for a third consecutive year. AGL is proud to continue supporting this exciting and unique Melbourne Zoo experience.
Zoo Twilights is taking place on land that belongs to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We pay respect to this country’s First Peoples past and present.
