Imagine if triple j’s Like A Version went for two hours. And turned into a sick house party. And you were allowed to sing along, dance, crack jokes and beers with the band. Maybe even push the lead singer around the crowd on a giant inflatable Flamingo. And there was a giant immersive visual screen. Welcome to Furnace & The Fundamentals’ Furnapalooza.

You wanna impress someone? Furnapalooza. Whoever you bring to the show will absolutely rhapsodise about it afterwards, and be eternally grateful to you for introducing them to Furnace and the Fundamentals. Even your biggest music snob mate will come out the other side weak in the face of Furnapalooza!

Furnace, Digby, Marcus, Lach, Solo and Tom are basically those guys we all secretly hate-worshipped in high school because they were just so ridiculously good at everything. You know, those frustratingly talented types that can just pick up an instrument and instantly nail it… Pitch-perfect voices, fleet-footedness on par with Broadway showmen, contemporary choreography knowledge to rival Beyonce’s. Wildly funny, charismatic; look great in suits, insanely knowledgeable about film, music, culture…the list goes on.

Real talk, though – Sydney’s Furnace & The Fundamentals are extraordinary, professional performers, with enviable panache. Having played over 500 shows in the decade they’ve been together, they boast a level of tightness and synergy most outfits can only dream of.

“We’re just so lucky to have the right combination of guys in the band who can go from Depeche Mode to Price, then The Darkness, then Beyoncé” says guitarist/singer Digby, “We like the audience not knowing where to look next, or what we’re going to sing next. We just know they want to keep dancing with us.”

In the current age of digital on-demand, with thousands of hours entertainment available at our fingertips, it’s tempting to blow off live stuff – but there’s nothing you can see on TV that will feel close to being a part of something like Furnapalooza. You’re live, the Fundamentals are live. They’re feeding off you, you’re feeding off them. You’re in a 100 year-old art-deco theater with a few thousand people around you – laughing, dancing, appreciating your friends, doing all those emotional things that hopefully a good performance will do for you.

And in recent times; where music concerts have turned into targets for terror, everyone could do a reminder that music concerts are a source of not fear, but fun.

Furnace and the Fundamentals are excited to have Discovery on board: Australia’s Daft Punk Tribute Experience are set to bring da funk and robot rock to the Enmore and Max Watts, taking audiences around the world, and warming them up for Furnace, with some French electro-house and feel-good disco antics. Discovery are seasoned Melbourne DJ duo Damian Andres and Matt Campbell, who perform songs cherry-picked from the DP catalogue, delivered via unique remixes, live DJing, and made complete with epic costumes (yes, shiny helmets) and a pro lightshow.

Already a hit at Listen Out Festival, Vivid Sydney and PACHA, this visually and musically engaging experience is an epic celebration of the French dancefloor heroes.
