As the state’s independent voice for contemporary music, Music Victoria is the most vocal champion of the Victorian music industry – they Live and Breathe Victorian music.

Providing professional development and advocacy on behalf of musicians, venues, businesses, industry professionals and fans alike, Music Victoria exists to help keep Victoria at the forefront of Australia’s thriving live music scene and to help musicians lead sustainable careers.

From Monday 19 to 29 March, Music Victoria is urging all who live and breathe Victorian music to sign up or renew an existing membership and help keep the local scene alive.

As a member of Music Victoria, you’ll get access to exclusive workshops and professional development series including the Victorian state government’s Live Music Professionals Program, plus discounts on a huge range of products and services including gear, merchandise, advertising, studio hire, consulting, travel, workshops, plus cheap food and drink at your favourite local venues.

With a current focus on mental health within the music industry, Music Victoria is proud to announce new membership benefits with The School of Life, Melbourne Meditation Centre, The Mind Room and Genesis Fitness all offering discounts on workshops, and a discounted Gold Membership at Genesis Gyms across Victoria.

The 2018 membership drive sees the introduction to prizes in categories for Small Business Members, Band Members, Regional and Outer Suburban Members, Venue Partners, and Individual Members.

This year, Music Victoria have pulled out all the stops with their membership video, teaming up with some of the state’s most prevalent performers and avid music lovers to give the rundown on exactly what Music Victoria is about and just how far your membership money goes in the 2018 ‘Live and Breathe Music’ Membership video.

Enlisting the Amateur Hour team to produce the video, the script was written by Music Victoria’s very own Laura Imbruglia who also stars in the hilarious video. Touching on grant applications, industry coaching services, mentorship, workshops, master classes and discounts, the video stars musicians Ecca Vandal, Sophie Koh, Benny Walker, Stella Angelico, Jake Mason (Cookin’ On Three Burners), Slattz (King Parrot), Lauren Hammel (High Tension/TFS), Pablo Alvarado (Mesa Cosa), Broads, Andrew Swann, Ben Franz (The Waifs/Brooke Russell), plus the Music Victoria staff Patrick Donovan, Al Parkinson, Nick Cooper and Sarah De Borre learning and explaining the value of being a Music Victoria member.

In 2017 over 1500 members helped Music Victoria to reach some amazing feats including: publishing the Victorian Live Music 10 Point Plan, issuing $240,100 in grants as part of the Good Music Neighbours and Acoustic Assessment programs, partnering with the government to bring the international renowned Music Cities Convention to the Southern Hemisphere for the first time, and assisting Visit Victoria to make live music a brand pillar and the pre-eminent global professor in music strategy Sound Diplomacy’s Dr. Shain Shapiro to declare Melbourne the “Live Music Capital of the World”.
