It’s time to say goodbye to Despacito

.

Latin American boy band CNCO have been making waves since they won the first season of Latin American singing competition La Banda in 2015, created by Simon Cowell and produced by Ricky Martin. Since then, the five piece boy band have opened up for artists such as Ariana Grande and Enrique Iglesias, scored a number one album with their debut release Primera Cita, and recently just hit over one billion views on their music video for their hit song Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos).

When you have a hit song, why not remix it and make it even better? Both fandoms of CNCO and Little Mix went crazy over social media last week when it was announced that both power groups would join forces and recreate Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos) as a remix. After Justin Bieber helped Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee receive commercial success with their hit Despacito, there’s no denying that Little Mix have the dominance to do the same with CNCO. As the girl group are still going fresh on their Glory Days World Tour as well as releasing hit tracks such as their latest smash Power, this remix will without a doubt have the potential to blow up and become huge.

As I’ve never heard the original version of the remix, I was way too excited to see what both bands had cooked up together. As soon as the track starts, there’s immediate suspense as it opens with a guitar that slowly strums and creates a Spanish flavour. As the girls build up the anticipation to the chorus, the boys take over with a punching beat as the instrumental changes into a major Latin feel. The production of the song is insanely fun and makes you want to jump out of your seat and sway your hips to the melody. Although I have no idea what is being said during the Spanish parts, it gives the track that spark and electricity that will allow any listener to enjoy and appreciate the renewed track.

Our bodies on fire we full of desire, if you feel what I feel throw your hands up higher

.

Another impressive element to this remix is that the girls do not speak Spanish and only majority of the boys are able to speak English fluently. Therefore, it’s extremely impressive to see both bands singing in each other’s native language. It’s also refreshing to see the groups embrace different languages and be able to join forces through the beauty of music. As I also looked up what reggaetón lento meant, it translates to ‘slow reggaetón’ with reggaetón being a Latin American dance. By listening to the English lyrics in the remix, I can also gage that the song touches on themes such as dance, passion and lust.

So does this remastered track have the potential to be the next Despacito? I one hundred per cent believe that both bands produced magic with this collaboration and that this song won’t be leaving our radios for months. As the Spanish lyric crossover in pop culture is starting to become a massive trend, it’s exciting to see opposite gendered bands come together and create a good feel, sexy track. With a music video confirmed for the remix, check out the original version in the meantime below and brace yourself for a dance fiesta.
