Global superstar Demi Lovato almost broke the Internet this week with the biggest comeback of her career. The 24-year-old vocal powerhouse dropped her new single Sorry Not Sorry at midnight on July 11^th, keeping fans up all night. The lead single will follow the release of her highly anticipated sixth studio album later in the year.

With previous hits Cool For the Summer and Stone Cold climbing the charts worldwide from her last Grammy nominated album Confident, the expectations of a huge return have been in the works for the former Disney songstress. Following her recent collaborations with Cheat Codes and Jax Jones, my instant belief was that the new single would follow down a similar path of a dance/house kind of feel. However, the starlet proves once again that her vocal ability can suit any genre as she creates a pop/electronic kind of vibe with her new track.

In the new single, Lovato takes a savage approach by belting her lungs out about revenge and not letting the haters get to her. She proves to her listeners that she’s confident in the position she’s in right now and that she’s definitely not apologising for anything. I do have to say that this strong and vindictive track from the pop star comes at no shock as she’s proven time and time again that her actions will always be truthful and justified.

The track touches on themes such as hate, relationships, power and self-identity. The instrumental explores some of Lovato’s previous sounds from tracks like Confident and Give Your Heart A Break, where we can hear a similar upbeat tempo riding the song from start the finish. However, Sorry Not Sorry is a true portrayal of Lovato’s influential personality and her ability to always voice what she’s feeling. The track proves to her fans and listeners that her past actions have been accounted for and that she will not stand down and say sorry for her honest and brutal behaviour.

The former X Factor judge has wasted no time by immediately embarking on her Sorry Not Sorry House Party Tour, which will see the starlet perform intimate gigs around the United States of America. Sorry Not Sorry has set Lovato up for an exciting year ahead by coming back to the music scene stronger than ever. If Lovato continues to produce jaw dropping hits like this one, I’m sure her highly anticipated sixth studio album will give her that Grammy win she’s always dreamed of.
