Who’s ready for a new spin?

.

Uprising American singer/songwriter Halsey has just released a remix version to her second single Bad At Love off her number one album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. The new release, mixed by Dillon Francis, gives a refreshing take on the track with a lively new atmosphere. Halsey first rose to fame with her hit song New Americana in 2015 along with her first debut album Colors. She also teamed up with The Chainsmokers on their global smash hit Closer and has continued her ride to success with her 2017 chart topper Now Or Never.

If you compare the instrumental between the original version and the remix, you get two completely different vibes. In the original, the beat contains a slow bounce which gives off a more chill kind of ambiance. However, I would best describe the remix version as an ‘after dark’ remix as it feels very nightlife and dance orientated. It’s got more of an EDM feel and the drop off the beat before the chorus allows the track to explode perfectly for a nightclub scene. The remix gives listeners a new take on the track and it almost feels as if Halsey has released a whole new track all together.

And it tastes like Jack when I’m kissing him”

The lyrics of the song are very promiscuous and fun. Throughout the verses, Halsey sings through a list of men and women that she’s been with and believed were ‘the one’, but with a long history of disappointment, Halsey concludes in the chorus that she’s clearly just bad at love. In this track, we see themes of love, experimentation, and sexuality. Halsey has made her bisexuality a consecutive theme throughout her album and shows no different in this banger of a track. Her strong vocals throughout the track will make you want to shout of the lyrics whilst you’re driving down the highway with the wind blowing through your hair.

Halsey never disappoints when it comes to structuring an addictive, relatable track that can come across as extreme easy listening. The remix version of Bad At Love gives the track a whole new perspective on the way it can be interpreted and that’s what I love about her artistry. She’s completely original and with them help of Dillon Francis, we see a new inventive masterpiece. As the original version of this track is already doing well on the charts, I’m positive this remix will help support its energetic presence and we’ll see the track to further progress. Check out the music video down below, it’s one not to be missed.
