Who’s ready for some solo harmony?

.

Worldwide renowned DJ Steve Aoki has teamed up with ¼ of Fifth Harmony goddess Lauren Jauregui for their new collaboration All Night. The new track by the duo has been plastered all over social media this week following its release on Friday. Steve Aoki is known for his huge dance tracks such as Delirious (Boneless) with rapper Kid Ink and Just Hold On with One Direction prodigy Louis Tomlinson. Lauren Jauregui however has made her mark as a member of one of the world’s biggest girl groups Fifth Harmony with huge hits such as Worth It and Work From Home, as well as solo projects including Back to Me with Marian Hill.

Knowing that this track was going to be produced by Steve Aoki, I already had a clear idea of what it was going to most likely sound like. After listening to it for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by its softness compared to his typical dance bangers. The song begins with a smooth, tame EDM beat. Once it reaches the chorus, the instrumental becomes quite non-existent and builds up strongly towards the end of the chorus for a powerful drop, perfectly supporting the strength in Lauren’s vocals. As the track progresses, we see those big moments within the tempo that Steve Aoki loves to show off towards the climax.

“Got me paralysed, and I think I like it”

.

The lyrics to the track are quite cliché, however catchy. Lauren sings about meeting her lover within a crowded environment in which she loses all sight of her senses and becomes completely paralysed by their presence. She emphasises the fact that it feels like just the two of them within the busy atmosphere and that she doesn’t want the night to ever end. Her vocals on the other hand are completely stellar. Known for her powerhouse riffs, Lauren keeps her range quite low throughout the beginning of the song and explodes her talent through crazy runs during the drops of the beat. As I never expected the songstress to ever collaborate on a dance track, her vocals have that spark you just can’t wait to belt out when the track climaxes.

All in all I find this track extremely special. Being a huge Fifth Harmony fan myself, it’s exciting to see the remaining four members branch out into solo endeavours after the departure and success of former band member Camila Cabello. Steve Aoki has given Lauren the perfect platform to showcase her capabilities as an individual artist through this unexpected, yet invigorating collaboration bound to be a radio hit. Through his successful EDM background along with her killer vocals, the pair have definitely hit the nail on the head with this track proving that Steve Aoki’s comeback along with Lauren’s solo experimentation has created something magical.
