The Sydney Division Agency started their launch of a series of warehouse events on Saturday the 20th of December. With an epic lineup of electronic beats, experimental sounds and diverse tracks, Sydney was introduced to The Warehouse Collective event that started off with a bang and was a clear indication of what is to come in the near future. Beginning the afternoon off at around 3 PM, the crowd began to gather in the Australian Technology Park: Exhibition Hall; a spaced out warehouse filled with beams and arched windows. If the interior wasn’t striking enough for the guests, the variety of food trucks, VIP area and bars were the perfect setup for the upbeat night ahead.

Supporting acts included Lucy Cliche, Nyxen, Kilter and Bag Raiders. Bag Raiders brought back their top hits such as Shooting Stars, Sunlight and Way Back Home, creating that ‘club’ vibe with groovy beats and harmonised choruses. Each of their infectious vibes and electronic tunes was the ideal way for the crowd to mingle and begin dancing in the lead up to The Presets.

The Presets are a reminder of youth culture within in Australia. Being around for almost a decade as a result of their ongoing dedication to creating experimental electronic pop tracks and Saturday night wasn’t any different to what they would usually bring to the stage. Julian Hamilton (vocals, keyboards) and Kim Moyes (drums, keyboards) opened up their set with some of their hit songs including This Boy’s In Love, Talk Like That, Kicking and Screaming and Are You the One?. The crowd was dancing and jumping with their hands raised in the air. Although once Youth In Trouble hit the speakers, the light show accelerated and you could hear a cheer of excitement from the crowd. Everyone was completely mesmerised by the escalation of beauty within the room and not just by the multicoloured beams of light but by the energy in which the crowd felt.

Over the course of the night, the duo played some oldies and newbies, some of which have become world known over the past few years. The Presets showed their hometown exactly why they began creating music in the first place. The room was filled with humidity on a hot summers night and not one person could stop dancing. If this is an introduction to what The Warehouse Collective is all about, Sydney is definitely up for an awesome new year.
