Sydney-based indie rock aficionado and prolific storyteller Thomas Keating is no newcomer to the local music scene. Having crafted intimate tales of home and country life since he first broke onto the scene back in 2012 with his band Thieves who later morphed into Good Counsel. At the end of 2016, Good Counsel called it a day, allowing Thomas Keating to return to his singer songwriter roots. His first solo endeavour and debut single ‘Begin Again’, is due for release nationally on Friday 2 February.
Drawing inspiration from classic rock and roll luminaries Gareth Liddiard, Nick Cave, The Triffids, Paul Kelly and more, Thomas Keating bunkered down at the beginning of 2017 and wrote his forthcoming debut album slated for release in the second half of 2018.
Produced by Gordon Burke at Sydney’s Ever Land Studios, Engineered by Dorny Mayes and self-mixed in Keating’s Frenchs Forest apartment, ‘Begin Again’ features old musical buddies Jenny McCullagh on violin (I Know Leopard), drummer Tim Parsons, and bassist Gavin Perkins. Baring his soul, Keating’s ‘Begin Again’ is an apt alternative-country take on the personal struggles of starting afresh and reflects on past experiences and serves as a microcosm for Keating’s bright and promising future.

Thieves released two EPs before becoming the highly credited four-piece Good Counsel with whom Keating released full-length album Mary, an impressive and ambitious debut that piqued the interests of the industry with its newly evolved darkness and brooding country undertones, plus a follow-up EP Songs By Good Counsel.
To date, between Thieves and Good Counsel, Keating has played sold out shows at The Vanguard, graced stages for Vivid Sydney at The Newtown Social Club, Mountain Sounds Festival and King St Crawl, as well as toured with Oh Mercy and notched up some impressive support slots with Jen Choler, Big Scary, Immigrant Union, and Kevin Divine among others.
A habitué of Australiana with a penchant for honest storytelling, Thomas Keating will hit the road this autumn with his full band, his wealth of songwriting experience and a backlog of new music to unpack when they launch ‘Begin Again’ in Newcastle, Sydney, and Melbourneduring March.
Join the talented storyteller on his latest musical journey.

AMNPLIFY-DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
