ALICE IVY
This is a special one. Genre hopping and expectation defying her way into hearts all over the world is Alice Ivy. Some kind of Frankenstein’s monster of EDM, soul, electronic and maybe even indie pop, Ivy has released several of the strongest debut tracks heard this side of The Avalanches – one of her major influences. Starting with Touch and moving on the Almost Here last year, ears pricked up almost immediately, propelling her onto stages and festivals Australia wide and racking up nearly a million Spotify spins in the process. Get Me A Drink is the real jewell in the crown though, a hypnotic, crunchy, cascade of samples, glitches, bone dry honest lyricisms from E^ST and bars from Melbourne rapper Charlie Threads.

BASENJI
Young visionary and master of the bright dance floor beat, Basenji is one of Sydney’s most exciting musicians. In late 2013, Basenji burst onto the scene with a unique blend of hard hitting dance beats and uplifting melodies. He was quickly snapped up by Future Classic and released his debut single, ‘Dawn’ – a track filled with bright, colourful bass and intermittent dog barks which sailed to the top of the Hype Machine and iTunes Electronic Charts. A favourite on the Australian live circuit, Basenji has toured the country multiple times, playing some of the most esteemed festivals including Splendour In The Grass, Listen Out and Curveball. He’s also making waves overseas, performing at Pukkelpop in 2017 and touring alongside Flume in the US.

BENSON
A one man, good time machine, Benson is the guy on the decks shouting drinks for strangers, pushing rooms to the limit and making sure every punter is in the palm of his hand. Hailing from Melbourne, he specialises in sub-bass driven house music and has been plying his trade in clubs around the country for long enough to know better. He has worked hand in hand with labels like Sweat It Out, Ministry Of Sound and Sony BMG while simultaneously running his very own boutique label Medium Rare Records. A festival favourite, he’s the man you might look for when your energy is dipping and you’ve lost your friends. Why? Because at a Benson party, everyone is your newfound amigo.

CHRISTOPHER PORT
Christopher Port, the Melbourne-based solo-producer and long time touring member with the Pieater roster – drums for Airling and #1 Dads, and live samples with Big Scary, who today joins the family with his debut EP Vetement.  Quietly chipping away on his own music (read: obsessively fine-tuning) in between tours, Port delivers a unique take on garage dance music. The Vetement EP features five diverse tracks from ‘Bump’ which takes heavy influence from the UK record label Hessle Audio, to ‘Before ft. Airling’, “the “most straight up ‘song’ on the record”, mixed by Simon Lam (Kllo) and features Port’s own vocal debut.

EXHIBITIONIST
From the always fertile Brisbane scene comes Exhibitionist, the brand new solo project for well known shapeshifter Kirsty Tickle. Already acclaimed for her work with indie darlings Little Scout, Kristy’s versatility as a singer and multi-instrumentalist has seen her regularly in demand as a session musician. Artists like The John Steel Singers, Henry Wagons and Parades have been blowing up her phone for years, but with Exhibitionist, Tickle finally spreads her wings. Lush electronic pop combines with hauntingly vulnerable vocals and rolling percussion on her debut single Hands, hinting strongly that after too long at the side of stage, Kirsty Tickle is finally ready to be a true Exhibitionist.

HAIKU HANDS
The result of a collaboration between two of Sydney’s finest female firestarters, Haiku Hands have emerged fully formed from the seeds of several scenes. As an artists and performer in her own right, Claire Nakazawa has performed with the likes of Urthboy, Hermitude and Horrorshow, combining her vocal talents with a knack for painting. By her side is co-pilot Beatrice Lewis, who has gained a reputation as a vocalist and producer through collaboration with Joelistics and as a member of fast rising indigenous band Kardajala Kirridarra. Together, as Haiku Hands they are working with a collection of elite Australian production talent and already have certified banger Not About You to show for it.

HATCHIE
An overnight success several years in the making, Hatchie is the solo concern of Hariette Pilbeam – a star for ages in Brisbane with bands like Babaganouj and Go Violets but now truly an international legend. Always working away at her own material, Hatchie decided one day to pop one of her tracks up on triple j Unearthed… just to see what would happen. Luckily for us she did, as the track was the beautiful, dream pop gem Try, and it set in motion an industry bidding war that landed Pilbeam management and booking agent deals left right and centre. Since that initial burst of activity, new track Sure has confirmed the hype. Sparkling, melodic and world class – it’s further proof that Hatchie is the real deal.

IV LEAGUE
Kneeling at the feet of 90’s era heroes like Pixies, The Breeders, yet still creating something refreshingly unique are Melbourne based alt-rockers IV League. The solid as a rock, sweet as candy vocal stylings of front-woman Bella Venutti provide a massive drawcard on tracks likeChange My Mind and Sylvia and it’s a tendency towards the swirlier side of production that has seen them rise above the pack of late. Having raced around the country in record time with kindred spirits Ali Barter, Spiderbait and British India, IV League are poised to deliver on the consistent hype that surrounds their collegiate name.

JEN CLOHER
Jen Cloher is the culmination of a period of artistic and personal growth in which the artist took her rightful place as the punk-rock figurehead of Melbourne’s famous DIY music scene. The NIDA Graduate is an outspoken advocate for artist rights and the co-founder of the incredible Milk! Records label (Courtney Barnett, Loose Tooth, Fraser A. Gorman, Jade Imagine, East Brunswick All Girls Choir). Cloher’s fascinating life-story and compelling political voice is enough justification to pay her attention, but it’s the music that will have you returning again and again.

JESS LOCKE
Recently signing to the Smith Street Band’s uber cool Pool House Records, singer-songwriter Jess Locke is coming into her own in a big way. Growing up in central New South Wales and eventually settling in Melbourne, Jess possessed a talent for confessional song smithery that was begging to be heard. Self releasing a steady stream of gems and working feverishly at her craft, Locke has recently released Better/Bitter, the first single from her newest album. A thoughtful, honest and addictive number, it rolls along at all the right angles. On stage, Jess Locke is every bit as commanding as her tunes and is sure to be a highlight at this year’s festival.

MANU CROOK$
Manu Crook$ is a Sydney based emcee possessing a sound sprung more from the streets of Atlanta that from his native western suburbs. Growing up around hip-hop as a mad fan of US rapper J. Cole, Crook$ has been praised for his ability to extract the cultural cringe from Aussie hop-hip and flip it into something entirely unique and exciting. He has earned raves from the likes of Zane Low of Beats 1 fame and was also the recipient of a recent triple j Unearthed crown. Working with fellow production weapon Dopamine, Crook$’s tracks like Everyday, Assumptionsand Blowin’ Up have put him at the forefront of a new wave of Australian artists intent on using head heart and beats to create the right vibe.

NINA LAS VEGAS
Australia’s resident tastemaker is far from just a household name. Having joined the triple j team as a teen, she’s since been championing electronic music talent onto the airwaves and spearheading Australian music into the stratosphere. Nina Agzarian aka Nina Las Vegas has become one of those key figures as an Aussie DJ and producer, with her blossoming record label NLV Records. Her live show (recently performed at Coachella!) is set to be something pretty special with a mix of magic only Nina Las Vegas can conjure.

NINAJIRACHI
Hailing from the Central Coast, Ninajirachi was a finalist in last years triple j Unearthed competition and has been impressing all and sundry with her lush and melodic dance stylings. An immensely talented young lady, her music has been described as sounding as if it was made in an ice cave… in a good way. The glitches and blips heard throughout are nothing short of divine. Singles Pure Luck and Glass have been all over the national broadcaster and Ninajirachi has even made the time to remix Melbourne producer Woodes’ killer track Waste Time. All of this done, no doubt, while stressing through her Year 12 exams. A huge glimpse of the future – right before our very eyes!

OCEAN ALLEY
Hailing from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Ocean Alley have been best mates for as long as they can remember. Starting in a backyard shed after realising they all happened to be gun instrumentalists, they have gone from strength to strength with their expansive vibes. Newest single The Comedown (written after a particularly heavy day in the sun) provides a perfect snapshot of what Ocean Alley are all about. Laid back beats combine with swirling guitars and blissed out vocals to create a kind of psych-reggae sweet spot. Their sound is perfect for the Australian summer and it’s no surprise that they’ve recently had the pleasure of supporting the likes of Tash Sultana and The Cat Empire on recent tours.

SLUM SOCIABLE
Back in the game after a small absence, Melbourne’s lords of cut and paste Slum Sociable will be hitting this years festival full of running. Born out of a university task, it was a fast start for these lads. Releasing their first single Anyway in 2015, the duo of Edward Quinn and Miller Upchurch kicked things off by playing a succession of Australia’s biggest festivals. The commanding vocal talents of Upchurch collided with the complex musical virtuosity of Quinn and magic was made. After a few years of hard gigging and industry buzz, Slum Sociable’s debut self-titled album has just been released – immediately being anointed as triple j’s feature album.

STELLA DONNELLY
As the recent recipient of the inaugural Levi’s Music Prize, Perth songwriter Stella Donnelly was marked as the next big thing to come out of the West since Kevin Parker and his mates wandered across the Nullarbor. As a vocalist, Donnelly is hypnotising. As a writer, she is searingly honest. The combination has vaulted her straight to the top of many punters’ “must see list” over the past few months. Her tunes Mechanical Bull and Boys Will Be Boys, taken from her amazingly titledThrush Metal EP, are raw stories that have held audiences captive while Donnelly has traversed the country. The world is next, so best get down now and catch Stella before she blasts off into the stratosphere.

TOUCH SENSITIVE
Finally unloading his debut albumVisions like a home made firework at a 21st birthday, Touch Sensitive (aka Michael Di Francesco) is back and ready to get heavy. Known for his dance floor fillers Pizza Guy and Show Me, it’s been a minute since we heard from this globe-trotting mastermind. Turns out he was just hanging around the USA making plans and readying himself for the release of Visions – four years in the making. Any fears of an overcooked pizza (so to speak) were allayed on first taste of Di Francesco’s first single Lay Down. It’s a monster jam and leaves us with little doubt that Touch Sensitive is the man to kick off celebrations and promote libations at this year’s festival.

WAAX
Packing a punch harder than your mates home made tropical disaster, Brisvegas’ WAAX set the standard when it comes to pulsating on-stage energy. Let by bottle-rocket Marie DeVita, they possess a rare blend of power and melody and are garnering a reputation as one of the hardest touring new bands on the Australian circuit. Fair dinkum – they have been absolutely mowing down shows from coast to coast of late, culminating in the recent release of a band new EP named Wild & Week. The release has only served to cement a bourgeoning rep for for snarling, catchy-as-hell punk rock. Think Siouxsie and the Banshees filtered through the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and you’re in the car park of the ballpark.

WAX MOTIF
Sydney, Australia-born EDM producer Wax Motif (Danny Chien) creates euphoric yet not too excessive electro-house that frequently references trap, hip-hop, and R&B, and is often referred to as “G-house.” His unique production style and fresh mixing skills have kept this rising producer in high demand. Continually wowing fans and industry insiders, his production efforts have drawn critical acclaim and support from the likes of Tiesto, Tommy Trash, Diplo, Switch, A- Trak, Laidback Luke, Yolanda Be Cool, Nicky Romero, Crookers, Chuckie, Style of Eye, Steve Aoki, Adrian Lux and more.The super-fun “Love Ting” (produced with Anna Lunoe), deeply pleasurable “Go Deep” (with Neoteric) and his solo “Shimmy Shake” EP have attracted significant attention domestically and abroad, with “Go Deep” reaching top 5 status on the Beatport Electro House chart and the tracks receiving heavy airplay on BBC Radio 1, Capital, Kiss FM, Scion, Triple J, Channel V and Rage as well as being licensed to several compilations around the world.

WEST THEBARTON
Putting sleepy Thebarton on the map once and for all, West Thebarton provide the type of four-to-the-floor rock n’ roll that you forgot you needed, but all of sudden can’t live without. Currently winding their way around the country in support of their latest instant classic Moving Out (everyone sing along: I fell in love, I’ve had enough and now I’m moving out), these Croweaters are following in the footsteps of the likes of fellow Falls alumni the Smith Street Band and Bad//Dreems in bringing the brutal honesty and pack mentality back to Australian guitar based rock music. They’ve supported plenty of big names and are ready to step out into the fold themselves so please welcome West Thebarton for their Falls debut.

YOUNG FRANCO
Brisbane producer / DJ Young Franco – Joey Da Rin – is no stranger to getting clubs heaving across Australia on a regular basis. After a 2016 spent touring Australia and the UK, off the back of the success of his single ‘Drop the Love’, 2017 has seen one triumph tail another for the auspicious Franco. A strong start with the release of his springy house single ‘Miss You’ – that quickly became a bona fide radio hit in Australia – was followed by an Australian headline tour with UV Boi, that included a sold-out show at Sydney’s iconic Metro Theatre.

ZIGGY RAMO
Touted by triple j Unearthed as “One To Watch” in 2017, this West Australian hip hop artist Ziggy Ramo is already making serious waves. Championed by Briggs and Remi, influenced by Common and Mos Def, he blends laid-back old school production with a smart, silky flow to dazzling effect. On powerful songs like ‘Black Face’ and ‘Black Thoughts’, he tackles racism and indigenous inequality head on while ‘Same Script’ takes an honest look at self-doubt and mental health. Most recently, Triple J’s Linda Marigliano premiered his latest jam ‘YKWD’ which is a dancefloor ode to the memory Elijah Doherty “for all the dances he’ll never have” and is the track associated with one of the most talked about moments from Ziggy’s highly praised Bigsound 2017 appearance.
