The AMERICAN EXPRESS TWILIGHT AT TARONGA Summer Concert Series has today announced its supports line-up. New to this year’s concert series is the partnership with the American Express Music Backers Grant program; an initiative supporting upcoming Australian artists, businesses and fans. With this support this year’s series will showcase local talent across the Summer Concert Series.
Alongside the likes of Bleeding Knees Club, Mojo Juju, Kesmar, Riley Pearce, Tay Oskee, Rachel Maria Cox, William Creighton, Wesley Fuller and Eliott; the program will give local artists, and recipients of the American Express Music Backers Grant, an opportunity to perform in Taronga Zoos’ iconic setting to audiences in excess of 2,000.
Grant recipients Mojo Juju and Riley Pearce are just two young upcoming Australian artists receiving support through the American Express Music Backers Grant program.
With her third studio album, Mojo Juju has combined bold storytelling with raw honest emotions. Having cut her teeth on the Australian touring circuit, it is only through experiencing her live shows that one can begin to understand the full breadth of this dynamic artist. Mojo Juju will support Aloe Blacc on the 21st February.
Opening for The Waifs on 14th February, Riley Pierce’s breakout single ‘Brave’ featured on the hit US show Shameless and notched up an impressive 14+ million plays on Spotify, illustrating the reflective song writing talent and coastal folk vibes that saw him selected as a recipient of the American Express Music Backers Grant program. From humble beginnings busking at farmers markets in Perth, Riley has gone on to support artists like Tash Sultana and Gomez, and sold out shows both here and abroad. His latest EP ‘Eastbound’ is out now.

Speaking about the opportunity, Riley Pierce said, “Super stoked to be playing at Twilight, mostly for the fact I have a song called Elephants so it’ll be nice to think there might be an elephant or two listening in. It’s been great being a part of the Amex Music Backers program and I can’t wait to launch my next project with their support.”

Framed by the picturesque Sydney Harbour skyline at dusk, the AMERICAN EXPRESS TWILIGHT AT TARONGA 2019 Summer Concert Series is one of the best live music events in Australia and is heldon the lawns of Taronga Zoo’s unique natural amphitheatre.
As a not-for-profit organisation, all proceeds from AMERICAN EXPRESS TWILIGHT AT TARONGA go back into Taronga’s ongoing conservation and research work, so they are concerts with a conscience. One such initiative is LITTER FREE OCEANS, which aims to protect our marine life and oceans.
All tickets to AMERICAN EXPRESS TWILIGHT AT TARONGA are not just for a night of great music; shows can be enjoyed with a pre-ordered picnic hamper as you watch the sunset in a Chillazy chair, or food and drink can be purchased on the night from a variety of food trucks and on-site bars. Each ticket also includes free public transport.
