ANNOUNCING
PINK FLOYD
‘THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN’
A SYD BARRETT TRIBUTE
.
This December Davey Lane’s Effervescing Elephants featuring special guest Robyn Hitchcock will take to Melbourne, Sydney and Perth to perform a tribute to Syd Barrett – Pink Floyd – The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.
Fractured genius Syd Barrett was at the epicenter of swinging London. The original leader of Pink Floyd flew headlong into a technicolour maelstrom from which he never really returned. Oh, but the music he left behind!! From the English whimsy of ‘The Scarecrow’ to the cosmic clang of ‘Interstellar Overdrive’, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is one of the great psychedelic albums of the era.
‘Arnold Layne’, ‘See Emily Play’, ‘Apples and Oranges’ and the great lost classic ‘Vegetable Man’ are singles full of playful inventiveness. Recorded at Abbey with Beatles engineer Norman Smith, Pink Floyd captured the zeitgeist of the times perfectly.
Davey Lane presents in concert not only the kaleidoscopic grandeur of Pink Floyd’s early work but highlights from the spartan charm of Syd’s solo albums.
The Effervescing Elephants are Davey Lane (Guitar/Vox), You Am I’s Rusty Hopkinson (Drums), The Gin Club’s Dan Mansfield (Keyboards), Even’s Ashley Naylor and very special guest Robyn Hitchcock (Guitar/ Vox) and they promise an evening to delight in the quirky, often cinematic, yet sometimes guileless works of this charismatic, high priest of the psychedelic age, Syd Barrett.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
