Today, London based alt-pop singer Ashnikko releases her summer anthemDaisy”. The 24-year-old merges her unique hyper energised rapping with melodic vocals and dedicates this new single to all the self-proclaimed brats of the world. As ever, Ashnikko delivers her messages of empowerment through a bubblegum blue hue to inspire young women to be themselves.

Ashnikko says on the track “this song is for the brats (brattiness being a recurring theme in my music). It’s about this absolute boss dominatrix vigilante character of mine. She rids the world of rapists and throat punches the patriarchy, leaving daisies behind as a calling card of sorts. She’s sexy as fuck, wears only platforms, latex, and blue diamonds.”

“Daisy” will also launch a TikTok challenge called #BEATSDAISYCHALLENGE with Beats by Dr. Dre, bursting with vibrant coloured themes – Glacier Blue, Spring Yellow, Cloud Pink and Lava Red and will be followed by a UGC music video directed by Charlotte Rutherford at the end of the month.

“Daisy” follows on from her recently released single “Cry” featuring ethereal pop star Grimes, which has over 2 million streams since its release and has gained support from DAZED, Pitchfork, CRACK Magazine amongst others as well seeing radio support from Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Jack Saunders and Nick Grimshaw. Watch the video for “Cry” here with both Ashnikko and Grimes transformed into anime characters for this blood soaked story line.

Ashnikko’s meteoric rise began after the release of her breakout Hi It’s Me EP with memorable anthems like “STUPID” taking off on TikTok for the #stupidchallenge. Pre-covid19 Ashnikko was on the road with Danny Brown supporting his U Know What I’m Saying? tour across North America and her three sold out shows in London were cancelled due to lockdown regulations. Now with more music on the horizon, Ashnikko is set to take 2020 by storm.

More about ASHNIKKO:

Art, music and sexual liberation are the three most potent ingredients in Ashnikko’s rebellion. Born and raised in suburban Greensboro, North Carolina, her parents raised her on a musical diet comprised exclusively of country music and Slipknot. Ashnikko buried herself in music growing up, listening exclusively to female artists until she was 17 – specifically proudly feminist and sex positive female artists – all of whom shaped her early sound. As soon as she turned 18, she moved to London and spent her nights wandering nightclubs and open mics and becoming the Ashnikko we know today.
