Returning from a hiatus of 5 years, Belgium singer songwriter Selah Sue returns to present her brand new 5 track EP: Bedroom EP. Her voice is still deep and deliciously hoarse and her golden hair still stands like a crown atop her head but something has changed. Crafted the day after the birth of her first child, this project feels more intimate than ever. Written in her bedroom, it plunges us in the euphoric feeling of joy of the artist turned mother. It also seeks to be more ambitious as we see Selah producing for the first time in her career alongside the English producer Kwes (Kelela, Solange, Tirzah) Selah Sue gives birth to 5 tracks that are both glowing and introspective.

New single ‘You’ is an ode to the absolute love she has for her two children, expressed beautifully in the accompanying video you can watch here.  Opening with a haunting vocal harmony, uplifted by a joyous baseline, this dreamy song is struck through with the repetition of these words “You are all I need, you are all I want”, and we are under the spell.

“After my first child was born, everything fell into place. Peace, love, unity. A pink cloud. It was the most natural high I have ever experienced and lasted longer than just a moment. I was planning on taking a break from music and everything else involved, but instead I felt the urge to make new music so strongly. And so I did. I’ve created music out of the most honest and perfect form of creativity: out of curiosity and so much love for my child and the art of music. To all my dear fans, waiting for a new record, this is my explanation of what I’ve been mostly focused on these last few years. Looking forward to sharing this with you.”

Selah Sue released her first album Selah Sue in 2011. A record in which she spoke with pure honesty about her teenage depression and that led her to become one of the music industry’s biggest phenomenons of the 2010s. With her follow-up album Reason (2015), the Belgian artist, heralded by the likes of Prince and Cee-Lo Green, only confirmed the extent of her true talent, establishing herself as an inspiration for a whole new generation of artists, collaborating on the album with Childish Gambino, ludwig göransson, Robin Hannibal, and Hudson Mohawke.

Sincere and deeply personal, Bedroom EP marks a new step in the life of Selah Sue. A new chapter that will allow her fans to get even closer, as they await the release of her upcoming third album.
