Known for their crooning vocals and folky-pop melodies, Broads have unleashed another side to themselves with new ballad ‘I Fed The Horse’. The second single off their forthcoming sophomore album (due for release early 2019) builds to a powerful climax, with fierce vocals punctuated by haunting guitars. The ballad was recently premiered on triple j Roots ‘n All. Listen to ‘I Fed The Horse’ here, out now.

“I started writing ‘I Fed The Horse’ with just a feeling in mind. Or a lack of feeling – an emptiness, a detachment from everyone around me. For a while I was worried something inside was incurably broken. Of course, I’ve come to realise this was not the case. But such a feeling can be drawn out of you by its own strong will, and the song seemed to just grow into itself.”

Following on from their highly lauded debut album “Vacancy” and the recently released ‘Mirror’, ‘I Fed The Horse’ continues to challenge social constructs and delve into the wells of the mind to observe and embrace the full spectrum of human emotion.

“The story within it flowed from this worry – a family connected by their emptiness trying to figure out where it came from. Is it nature or nurture? Does it matter? In the end, who we are, we are.”

Catch Broads on their ‘I Fed The Horse’ single tour, kicking off tonight at Melbourne’s The Old Bar, tickets available on the door.
