Brisbane’s BUGS are excited to announce they will be touring the east coast next year in celebration of their new single ‘Sweetener’. The three-piece will be hitting stages in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney in March 2019. After the release of ‘Sweetener’, BUGS are in for a sugary 2019; with the Brisbane band’s forthcoming sophomore album due out late in the year.

.

“We’re all super excited to be taking a bunch of new songs on tour early next year,” says frontman Connor Brooker.“Our last headline shows sold out in each city we are revisiting in this run so we are really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces & interstate mates – hopefully we can make some more pals along the way!”

BUGS and videographer Jaden Marc of Marc Media filmed the video for ‘Sweetener’ at the Brisbane instalment of immersive candy-inspired attraction Sugar Republic.

.

“I hope the end result brings you as much joy watching as it provided for us making it. Our new mate Anne-Marie who supervised the access was so lovely too, loading confetti canons and finding light switches every 5 minutes. It was a remarkably cohesive group effort but it didn’t feel like work.”

The new single arrived during the band’s widely successful tour with Adelaide’s The Hard Aches, and follows the news that BUGS will be performing at The Hills Are Alive Festival in March next year. BUGS also celebrated their hectic 2018 with a special Christmas show at the Hamilton Hotel in Brisbane in December, joined by their friends RAAVE TAPES, Seaside, Bloom Parade, Dumb Things, and The Buzzing Towers.

‘Sweetener’ shows BUGS’ sensitive side, inspired by a loving summertime fling. Drawn from a deeply personal experience, it’s a feel-good tune full of times of bubbly and youthful sentiments.

Behind the scenes, BUGS’ own drummer Brock Weston recorded and mixed the track at Bedlam Studios. The band also worked with Tyson Ruth from Studio Truth who mastered the final product.
