Owning her style from the get-go, Chase Zera snaps back with her new body of work, ‘Disco Runway’. Chase Zera burst onto the pop scene in 2019 with a captivating sound and distinct creative direction. The artist released her first three striking singles, ‘Clovers’, ‘Mess’ and ‘Said I Would’, immediately setting her apart and proving herself as an artist and performer to watch closely. With Chase Zera’s music evolving over the years, the Sydney talent started to lean into her disco influences, with inspiration coming from the likes of Chic and Jamiroquai, with a modern Dua Lipa spice.

Chase Zera’s newest venture ‘DISCO RUNWAY’ couples an eclectic mix of classic disco sounds with groovy beats, each skillfully different from the last, but together forming a kinetic EP which  draws you to sweat on the dance floor for hours to forget your worries. Chase Zera effortlessly encapsulates modern-day pop-disco, pairing her love for character-driven styling, fashion and nightlife with this dynamic 5-track EP. ‘DISCO RUNWAY’ allows everyone to let go of what no longer serves them and puts people and places at the centre, crowning them as their own Miss Universe.

Chase Zera details the significance of the project stating “‘DISCO RUNWAY’ is about embracing your true self, not wanting perfect moments to end, having great nights out with great people, making memories and removing negative energy from your life to pave the way for more positivity and love. In my experience, being unapologetically yourself isn’t something that happens overnight – it comes from self-awareness, standing up for yourself when it’s not always easy, walking away from what no longer serves you and finding and holding on to the people who actually deserve all of the love you have to offer.”

‘DISCO RUNWAY’ is full of memorable hooks with production that relishes in its own groove, drawing you in to listen on repeat. ‘Just Another Guy’, the first track on the EP, combines a pulsing bassline with a classic 80’s inspired beat. Its synth melodies keep a certain pace on the track whilst Chase Zera’s silky vocals shine at the forefront. The second track ‘Miss Universe’, encompasses the meaning of being yourself, doing what makes you confident no matter what that is, and surrounding yourself with the right people in the right places. The meaning and the production perfectly amalgamate, forming a track that houses a raw, reverberating bassline and droning strings, with rhythmic percussion paving the way to catchy melodies and a hook leaving you encased within the track. ‘Disco Dancing’ is the perfect interlude for the EP; starting stripped back, Chase Zera’s vocals shine through as she effortlessly dances through vocal melodies atop classic chords and vinyl texture, later evolving into the perfect mix of disco and pop. With smooth and gliding synths, funky guitar progressions and Chase’s hypnotic vocals, ‘Disco Dancing’ stays true to the name and is the perfect midpoint for the EP. ‘The Moment’ gets you moving from the get-go with hard-hitting bass and intricate rhythmic percussion. Integrating funky guitar riffs, with her signature luscious disco-era synth chords, playful strings flourish alongside her own intoxicating vocals. ‘Midnight’ is an ode to clubbing and reminisces the feeling of long sweaty nights on the dance floor, losing track of time and singing and dancing the night away. Closing out the EP on a high, the track is the perfect mixture of groovy drum tracks, syncopating basslines and synth melodies. ‘DISCO RUNWAY’ is the perfect modern-day disco EP, it would be hard to forget the captivating hooks and melodies Chase does so effortlessly, it’s the quintessential sound of disco-pop that we all know and love and it keeps us wanting more.

With the absolute success of her previous singles ‘Jealous’ and ‘Supernova’, Chase Zera knows how to make music that will bring everyone onto the dance floor, having garnered support across triple j, KIIS, Grazia, MTV, JOY 94.9, Acid Stag, Cool Accidents, Tone Deaf, Purple Sneakers, Women In Pop, Future Mag Music, and many more. Chase recently curated a newly imagined live show coupling herself with both dancers and drag queens, putting on a massive show at NYE In the Park and on the main stage of Mardi Gras’ Fair Day festival earlier this year. With a presence like no other, Chase’s growing TikTok following was duly noticed as she was given the opportunity to perform as a dancer on the TikTok Mardi Gras parade float alongside Wafia and fellow creators from the Australia LGBTQIA+ community, with a later milestone headline performance at POOF DOOF Sydney. With Chase’s talents being recognised by dance icons, she has gone on to support Bag Raiders & Hayden James on their national tours, as well as Touch Sensitive and Little Fritter. Later this year, Chase Zera is set to spin some feel-good dance music at Sun Sets alongside headliners Bag Raiders and Set Mo on December 3rd.
