CORONA USES SUNSETS FESTIVAL TO INSPIRE
THE NEXT GENERATION OF ECO WARRIORS

.

This weekend, a capacity crowd of music lovers will descend upon Wollongong’s beautiful North Beach, where the sold out CORONA SUNSETS FESTIVAL is set to showcase a wave of incredible Australian music and world class summer vibes

As a brand that believes that life is better lived with salty air in our lungs and sand beneath our toes, Corona is working to ensure that our oceans and it’s creatures great and small, are protected for future generations.

.

Andy Vance, Marketing Manager at Corona Australia said:
“Corona is on a mission to protect paradise and plastic pollution is the most visible issue affecting paradise today. The beach and the ocean are Corona’s spiritual home but right now it’s under siege from marine plastic pollution. Corona Sunsets Festival provides a particularly relevant opportunity to educate our guests on this growing issue, as they enjoy an amazing day on the pristine sands of North Beach, the same environment that is under threat. Our ambition is to motivate all those who experience the festival, whether that be down on the beach, or via the live stream, to become more plastic conscious in their every day lives by adopting Parley’s AIR strategy to Avoid, Intercept, Redesign.”

.

Since pledging to protect 100 islands by 2020, Corona x Parley have intercepted plastic from dozens of remote islands, while rallying thousands of volunteers for clean-ups and education campaigns. Building on this commitment, they will be rolling out a number of initiatives at CORONA SUNSETS FESTIVAL that will focus on minimising the event’s own environmental footprint while also providing engaging, interactive and educational experiences aimed at motivating music lovers to make a change for the future.

.

NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC

CORONA SUNSETS FESTIVAL is saying sayonara to single-use plastic at the event! Enjoy a delicious range of Corona cocktails from paper straws and your own re-usable cup. All of the delicious delicacies on offer at Corona SunSets Festival will also be served to go in plastic free packaging. Talk about guilt-free treats!

Drink bottles will be available for purchase at the event and water refill stations will be located across the venue, though water will also be available for purchase in 500ml cans from Enjoy Water, an Australian water beverage company (developed by surfers). Enjoy Water is on a mission to reduce single use plastic pollution. The aluminium cans are 100% recyclable and can be resealed after the initial opening.

.

CORONA x PARLEY PAVILION

Cruise by the Corona x Parley Pavilion to get the low down on the marine plastic pollution epidemic threatening the most important eco system on the planet, our beaches and our oceans.

At the Pavilion, festival goers can learn more about this increasing environmental threat, and then make their own plastic free commitment.

The Pavilion will showcase Parley for the Ocean’s signature AIR Strategy which provides a simple solutions framework to end marine plastic pollution:

.

Avoid – plastic wherever possible
Intercept – plastic waste
Redesign – plastic materials and products

.

.

MAKE A PLASTIC FREE PLEDGE

Are you a sucker for straws? A lover of take away coffee? Then it’s time to pledge for a better world. Make a public promise to steer clear of one or more of the following at the Corona x Parley Pavilion: coffee cups, plastic straws, plastic bags and single use plastic bottles. It only takes 30 days to change a habit. Make a start on December 1. For each pledge posted by festival goers to social media during the festival, Corona and Parley will allocate $10 towards the protection of Wollongong’s beautiful beaches.

MURAL FOR THE OCEANS AT NORTH WOLLONGONG SURF LIFESAVING CLUB

Sydney-based Venezuelan artist Nadia Hernández is set to create a major artwork at North Wollongong Lifesaving Club. Nadia’s vibrant and shimmering seaside mural will inspire beach goers to protect and conserve this precious part of the coast. Snap a pic of the mural and share it to socials during the event with #100islandsprotected and Corona and Parley will also allocate an additional $10 per post towards the protection of local beaches and waterways, to a combined total of $10,000. So get posting!

SCREEN PRINT TO PROTECT PARADISE

Wear your own eco message loud and proud! Stop by the Corona Sunsets Screen Print Station to create your very own t-shirt or tote bag and help spread the good word that plastic is not fantastic.

.

VOLUNTEERS FOR THE OCEAN

Before you hit the road, join Corona x Parley as they return to North Beach on Sunday 2nd December for a beach clean-up. Led by the legends at Parley, the beach clean will further educate festival-goers on the impact of marine plastic pollution on our oceans and waterways. It will provide an opportunity to collect any remaining waste from the day prior. When the beach clean has wrapped up and you’ve worked up a thirst, join Corona for a beer on them at a nearby venue.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

Corona has partnered with ethical event cleaners Clean Vibes to ensure maximum recycling and diversion from landfill. Keen to play your part? Keep an eye out for the many bins located around the festival and be sure to drop your waste in the correct bin. Look out for Clean Vibes’ Green Team onsite!

.

”Clean Vibes will be bringing a Green Team to North Beach to assist in education, sorting and achieving above standard diversion from landfill results.  Implementing the Green Team alongside our hands-on approach to delivering both cleaning and waste management for Corona Sunsets Festival will achieve the best possible results when it comes to minimising the festival’s footprint, including but not limited to, a clean festival site, high diversion from landfill percentages and direct recycling.” says Clean Vibes Director, Andrew Macarthur.

Join Corona and Parley for the Oceans to help protect paradise.

See you on the sand!
