Melbourne It’s a wrap!

.

.

When the curtain finally opens on Slayer, the crowd are spellbound. Closing on Angel of Death amid dazzling pyrotechnics, some diehard metalheads begin to choke up. If this is truly to be Slayer’s farewell tour, may they reign in blood forever.” The Guardian

Parramatta Park was an ideal venue pleasing was the juxtaposition of natural and unearthly worlds – the scent of the surrounding gum trees combined with the appearance of hundreds of bats at sunset to contribute an amiable and uniquely Australian atmosphere to this festival of metal.” Sydney Morning Herald

After a successful debut in Sydney, Download returned to Flemington for the second year with blistering force, perfect weather and over 20,000 music fans creating a sea of worship of all things heavy!

Baltimore co-ed feminist hardcore-punk band War on Women, local heroes Frenzal Rhomb and Polaris delivered standout sets on the Dogtooth stage to kick things off.

UK duo Slaves left a lasting impression, their ferocious set dropping the jaws of every single person in the packed-out Avalanche stage. Setting the bar high for Cali hardcore punk outfit Fever 333, who flew through it with unapparelled, uncompromising hip-hop punk activism.

English heavy metal kings Judas Priest proved why they have sustained a forty-year career, delivering an epic follow up to their Sydney set.

Slayer delivered an unforgettable set of hits to their legion of fans who left beaming with joy as their thrash metal gods played out their final goodbye to Aussies fans.

As always, Melbourne Downloaders were respectful and in great form. Organisers and emergency services delighted to report another incident free event.

We want to thank everyone for another massive year… horns up!
