Gold Coast sensation DVNA (pron. Da-na) today shares her eagerly anticipated debut EP, All My Friends. An introspective yet innately relatable musical journey, the 9-track EP was both self-recorded and produced from her own home. All My Friends is a jazzy and candid deeper dive into the world of Dana Lowrey.

Featuring previous favourites, ‘Sushi In Tokyo’, ‘Half Past Sober’ and her most recent single  ‘All My Friends’; this EP is a tell-all exposé revealing the very real and intimate conversations between DVNA, her friends, family and love interests:

“I express personal thoughts, secrets and uncover late-night antics throughout its entirety, unveiling parts of them and myself that I hope listeners will be able to resonate and connect with on a deep level,” explains DVNA.

This sentiment rings true on ‘When I’m Your Girl’, a serendipitously stripped back and emotionally honest ballad on what a budding relationship could have been. Peppered with personal touches, the body of work incorporates notes of jazz and reggae atop of her already trademark melting pot of electro, pop and neo-soul.

Produced in a little surf shack that she took refuge in during the pandemic, sonically the EP make attributes to a wide span of genres likened to artists she listened to at the time of writing. Her tracks are musically akin to the likes of Tom Misch, Jorja Smith, Santana, Hiatus Kaiyote, Daniel Caeser, Raveena (to name a few). Lyrically, her writing has followed suit of the clever, taboo and humourous stylings of Lily Allen, Stella Donnelly, and Katy Perry. A culmination of the aforementioned artists, in particular, inspired her tongue-in-cheek track ‘Why You Gotta Be So Nice’.

“Dipping my production toes into the world of reggae-inspired by artists like Daniel Caesar and Masego – I took it slightly down more of a soulful route, infusing elements of jazz and modern-day hip hop into my vocals, creating a blend that is unique to my own sound as an artist,” says DVNA.

A journey from start to finish, the EP features interludes and real recordings of friends and family, namely that of DVNA’s mother in ‘More to Give’ (Interlude), filled with heartfelt sentiment. She introduces the track with short supportive dialogue about nurturing a creative dream and remembering to be true to who you are.

Since her first release, DVNA has been on an upward trajectory culminating over 4 million Spotify streams and counting. This year has been no different being named triple J Unearthed Feature Artist and subsequently earning herself a coveted spot at Brisbane’s St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival. DVNA also recently teamed up with South Australian electronic-hip hop artist PNK FME for his new track, ‘I Know But You Don’t’. On top of this, she also walked away with Gold Coast Music Awards’ ‘Song Of The Year’ for her hit single ‘Looking Like A Snack’,  and premiered her last single ‘All My Friends’ via triple j’s Good Nights, which has received plays across the station including an add to triple j unearthed’s radio rotation.Throughout her career she has received praise from national tastemakers such as Purple Sneakers, Scenestr, Pilerats, Pedestrian.TV and more.

To round off the year, DVNA will be embarking on a national tour in October to celebrate the release of her brand debut EP making stops across Brisbane, Gold Coast and Townsville. With many of these shows already sold out, with second and third rounds of additions, there’s no doubt her fans new and old, are ready to welcome DVNA back to the live music scene.

Join DVNA as she continues to take charge of her creative journey filled with sass, soul and shimmery soundscapes.
