Elton John triumphs at #1 with ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’ feat Dua Lipa for the seventh non-consecutive week, making the track his longest run at #1 on the Australian Singles chart, eclipsing Elton’s previous Australian record set by ‘Candle in the Wind – 1997’ with six weeks at #1.

‘Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)’ proudly heralds Elton John’s first #1 single in Australia in 24 years. It also marks his 20^th top ten single in Australia adding to his rich chart history.

Since the release of ‘Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)’ in August 2021, the single has accumulated over 41 million Australian streams and has been accredited 3 x Platinum for its immense success.

Elton has evidently reinvented the streaming era, repositioning himself as the 6th biggest artist in the world on Spotify.

Boasting interpolations of four classic Elton John recordings; Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going To Be A Long Long Time) (1972), Sacrifice (1989), Kiss The Bride (1983) and Where’s The Shoorah (1976) – ‘Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)’  has struck a chord across generations.

‘Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)’ marks his third official overall number one single in Australia – with ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ (with Kiki Dee) also hitting number one in August 1976.

Elton John’s other #1 Australian single contributions include ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ (1985) from Dionne Warwick’s ‘Friends’ recording; and 2Pac’s ‘Ghetto Gospel’ sampling Elton John’s ‘Indian Sunset’ – which was an Australian #1 in 2005.

Evidently striking a chord across generations, the album from which it comes, ‘’The Lockdown Sessions’ is Elton John’s highest album chart placing in Australia since 1992, when his album of that year ‘The One’ also earned the number 2 spot, spending seven weeks in the Top Ten.

This brings Elton John’s Top Ten tally to 32 ARIA Top Ten albums in Australia – including 7 number one albums; a run of five consecutive from January 1973 to May 1975, with Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Caribou, his 1974 Greatest Hits and Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy.

Those spells at #1 are cumulatively 30 weeks; marking SEVEN months with a #1 album in Australia.

In the UK – ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ debuted at #1; his eighth in his home territory.

Alongside ‘Cold Heart’ PNAU Remix with Dua Lipa, ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ features collaborations with artists including Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Brandi Carlile, Charlie Puth, Lil Nas X, Stevie Wonder, Nicki Minaj, Gorillaz, Surfaces, Young Thug, Years & Years, Miley Cyrus and Stevie Nicks.

Elton announced the ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour at New York’s Gotham Hall in January 2018. Encompassing 5 continents, and over 350 dates, this 5-year-long tour started in September 2018 and marks his retirement from touring after more than 50 years on the road. In 2019 it was named Billboard’s Top Rock Tour and Pollstar’s Major Tour Of The Year.
