“Eves is coming into her own; stronger in her sense of self, more sure of her mix of pop sensibilities and studio experimentation…” – Grazia

“A remarkable song writing maturity… Against the lush atmospherics, her breathy, impassioned voice challenges a lover (or possibly herself) to her the respect she’s obviously due” – Blackbook Magazine

“… her most recent musical identity shift appears to be a good move to propel her in the right direction as she releases her most personal material to date. Karydas’s fresh and fun pop tunes have crisp vocals and big choruses” – The Music

Eves Karydas today releases her electrifying new single, ‘Couch’, which is available now via Dew Process / Universal Music Australia. Karydas also announces today that she will be embarking on a not-to-be-missed, east coast headline tour. The tour kicks off in Brisbane at The Foundry on August 9 before heading to Sydney and Melbourne with special guests to be announced. Tickets are on sale now.

The single’s release arrives shortly after the news she was announced to perform at this year’s epic, sold-out Splendour In The Grass Festival, alongside the likes of Lorde, Kendrick Lamar, Vampire Weekend, MGMT and Girl Talk, plus the brand-new Adelaide event, Spin Off Festival as well as River Sessions Mackay.

Couch’ features plenty of bounce and sway, and builds upon the sensual and emotional moments of earlier singles ‘There For You,’ and ‘Further Than The Planes Fly,’ but possess a whole lot more swagger.

It’s another step into the realm of pure pop from the former Brisbane indie-act, which displays a sensuality and effervescent energy we hadn’t seen from her before, and this new direction quickly found a following, the songs climbing over 4.7 million streams worldwide in no time at all.

This current run of hits has been inspired by Eves recent relocation to London, which has seen her push herself into unfamiliar relationships and environments, which she credits for helping her mature as a person, as well as discover a new-found sense-of-self in her music. ‘Couch’ is an excellent portrayal of that development, with its sophisticated songwriting and dreamy, playful pop sensibilities.

The song which premiered via the airwaves on triple j Good Nights, was co-written with Sam Dixon (Adele, Christina Aguilera, Sia) and produced by Karydas, Sam Dixon, her long-time collaborator Chris Zane (Passion Pit, Bat For Lashes) as well as friend and Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa.

“Couch is about a small intimate moment with someone, and how that can make you feel volumes.” Says Karydas “I wrote it when I moved into my first flat in London. I was suddenly feeling more ambitious and empowered than I’d ever felt in my life. That’s what this song is about at its core: confidence in yourself.”

Her time abroad since 2015 has seen Karydas craft over 50 songs, the cream of which have been skimmed for her forthcoming debut album, which is to be scheduled for release later this year.

Eves Karydas, is also set to perform at The Great Escape (UK) this weekend, where she will join fellow Australian acts among the likes of Alex The Astronaut, Alexander Briggs, Hatchie, Olympia and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever as well as a raft of rising global talent.

Throughout February and March this year, Karydas supported Brisbane alt-pop stars Cub Sport on their Australian, 10-date headline album tour as well as supporting British pop-star, Dua Lipa’s two sold-out headline shows at The Palais in Melbourne and Big Top in Sydney. These shows were Karydas’s first live appearances in Australia since 2015, when she commanded adoring audiences across the country for her stellar Laneway Festival and Splendour In The Grass performances. Don’t miss her powerful and electric live set when she will take the stage at Splendour In The Grass for the second time in her flourishing career.
