Farmer and The Owl’s newest family members Bad//Dreems have added a dose of their personal musical taste to this years’ line up as co curators. Adelaide’s favourite rock n roll son’s will also be hitting the stage, no doubt belting out tracks from their third studio album Doomsday Ballet, fan favourites ‘Double Dreaming’, ‘Morning Rain’ & ‘Pist Christ’. Born during an Adelaide heatwave, Bad//Dreems have cemented their place as one of the most exciting Australian Guitar bands of recent times. The quintet’s reputation as one of the country’s best and most in-demand live acts, meanwhile, has been hard-won via supports with groups as varied as Midnight Oil, At The Drive-In, The Black Keys, Cold Chisel, The Avalanches, as well as their own headline tours and appearances at festivals such as Splendour In The Grass, Laneway, Falls and Sydney City Limits.

Born and bred in NYC, a teenage Wiki (Patrick Morales) quickly rose to fame as one third of pioneering hip-hop group Ratkings releasing the NYC-focused classic, So It Goes, which was recently included in Pitchfork’s Top 200 Albums of the Decade. Out of this grew a shrewd lyricist in Wiki, going on to release solo mixtapes, 700 Fill and Lil’ Me, his exploration of street life in NYC guided him in dropping his fully-fledged debut solo album, No Mountains In Manhattan. Touring extensively off the back of his newly released album OOFIE, Wiki will bring fan favourites ‘Grim’ (ft. Lil Ugly Mane & Denzel Curry), ‘Pesto’, ‘Elixir’ and ‘Saggy Denim’ to life on stage.

The Lazy Eyes are a Sydney four piece who create prismatic, sprawling psychedelic rock that evokes the likes of Pond, The Flaming Lips, and Lonerism-era Tame Impala. The band’s playfully jam filled and constantly morphing live show has spread throughout their home city like word-of-mouth wildfire, building up a fervent, cult following. Bringing a meld of pedal-effected psychedelia, 60’s pop inspired chord progressions, the pervasive moodiness of Mac Demarco, the throwback smooth grunge of Granddaddy and the pocket symphonies of Brian Wilson, The Lazy Eyes create emotive and expansive alternative rock.

A group not easily penned down within the genre, Hoon is a chaotic garage punk band from Wollongong. Their heavily animated live show is reinforced by the sonic mayhem conveyed in their song writing. ‘Hoon 2.0’ saw its first light of day in January 2019 with the single ‘Partner In Crime’. From bursts of raucous 2-minute thrillers – to dynamic 5-minute progressive ballads with hints of psychedelic and sludge metal, Hoon have developed their form as eclectic garage punk act that pays homage to their predecessors, whilst remaining distinct in the contemporary.

R.M.F.C is a solo project of 18-year-old Buz Clatworthy from the South Coast of NSW. The project started in September of 2018 when R.M.F.C released its debut EP titled ‘Hive vol. 1’which was followed by a second EP titled ‘Hive vol. 2’ in March of 2019. Since then, R.M.F.C has gained international attention, getting airplay in countries across the globe, and landing support slots for big names such as Kirin J Callinan. If you like Devo, speed, hot riffs and being a turd, you’ll love R.M.F.C.

Loose Fit began when Sydney-based fashion school friends Kaylene Milner and Anna Langdon bonded over their mutual love of experimental music. The band’s rhythm-heavy sound contains echoes of UK post-punk titans such as Public Image Ltd, Maximum Joy and A Certain Ratio. On stage and on record Loose Fit is an energetic unit propelled by a heavy rhythm section that isn’t afraid to assault unsuspecting punks with the ultimate taboo – groove.

Babey bare their vulnerability relentlessly in their live acts. The quartets connection runs as deep as blood with sisters Elyse (guitar), Rachael (bass), Janae (drums) and childhood friend Aiden (guitar). Dubbed an FBi Radio ‘Independent Artist of the Week’ and having played alongside bands including Jordan Ireland (The Middle East), RVG, Jade Imagine and Bodytype, Babey are proving their steady approach is a lasting one.
