Ahead of North America Tour
& Coachella performance

Today, ARIA-award winning electronic duo, Flight Facilities, share their new single “Trouble” with long time collaborator Owl Eyes out now via Future Classic.

A month shy of their North America “Trouble” 2024 tour that includes a stop at Coachella, and in close succession from their sold-out and expanded national The Decades Tour, Jimmy and Hugo today release their first original since 2022’s two-track Lost Forever EP.

A trip to the altar of 2000s dance music, “Trouble” was born during the pair’s 2023 run of Ibiza DJ sets when late nights (sometimes) evolved into missed flights. Back home, the duo invited lifelong collaborator Brooke Addamo (Owl Eyes) and Jack Glass (Bag Raiders) into the studio, and soon a dedication to the DNA of the classics transpired. Be it the Chaka Khan hook of Stardust’s “Music Sounds Better With You”, the emotionally evocative collaboration that became Todd Terry’s edit of Everything But The Girl’s “Missing”, or the mirrorballed drumroll of Spiller’s “Groovejet”, “Trouble” is the collision of magical moments from a period that gave warm and ecstatic music for fans to escape into, with the inimitable freshness of a Flight Facilities anthem.

Flight Facilities share on the new single: “Trouble, in many ways, is a return to our origins in taste, influence and collaboration. Working with Owl Eyes and Bag Raiders’ Jack Glass, to reference some turn-of-the century dance-pop was such a natural fit. We’ve always had a special nostalgia for the 2000s, so any excuse to inject its sound into today is one we’ll take.”

Owl Eyes added: “This silly little song is an ode to the chaotic energy of those early touring years with my lifelong friends Jimmy and Hugo. It’s also an anthem for anyone with a fun party alter ego. I like to think mine, aka Bailey, actually took over and wrote this song.”

Next month, Flight Facilities return to North America for a run of shows celebrating their new single. The pair will make stops in multiple states, from Miami to Mexico City, New York and Chicago, before returning to perform at California’s 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival across two weekends. Flight Facilities made their Coachella debut in 2014, before being invited to DJ at last year’s DoLAB stage – seeing 2024 become a full circle moment for all who witness this year’s performance.

“Trouble” arrives following last year’s The Decades Tour, that saw Jimmy and Hugo perform their famed mixes from club settings to car parks and festival mainstages across the country, selling out shows from start to finish. The tour represents the mammoth project of Jimmy and Hugo as avid crate diggers and selectors, who chronologised their favourite music across 40 years of history. Since 2012, the six-part decades series has been played tens of millions of times and prompted a cult-like following as the centerpiece in road trips, house parties and kick ons alike.

Since emerging with the celebrated global anthem “Crave You” in 2010, Flight Facilities have consistently defied sonic trends, staying true to crafting feel-good soundtracks that make people want to dance. The pair have risen to international fame with cult hits, sporting multi-million online streams such as “Clair de Lune”, “Down To Earth” and “Sunshine”, and have worked alongside Kylie Minogue, Emma Louise, Reggie Watts, Owl Eyes, and more on their Gold certified, twice ARIA-nominated, 2014 debut LP Down To Earth, and subsequent ARIA-awarded 2015 album, Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Flight Facilities continue to remain adaptable, from the studio to the DJ booth, and live stage featuring world renowned orchestras. In addition to attracting their own headline crowds, the pair have been global festival favourites at prestigious festivals like Fuji Rock in Japan, and Glastonbury in the UK, as well as DJ mainstays, attracting a frenzied attendance to any club in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere they find themselves in.

As Flight Facilities flip nostalgia and raise the energy from their own lane, “Trouble” is the carefree and highly addictive dose of mischief you’ve been looking for.
