Australia’s favourite ARIA award-winning duo, Jimmy Lyell and Hugo Gruzman, aka Flight Facilities, today reveal their highly anticipated sophomore album, FOREVER, set for release on November 12. Coinciding with the announcement, the pair share their latest single “FOREVER” feat. Broods, out now via Future Classic.

To the delight of fans globally, Flight Facilities first returned with new music in early 2021. From traversing early years as local club DJs to becoming an internationally acclaimed live act, the pair have plenty of cause to celebrate their illustrious decade-long career together. Now, the duo’s second studio album is ready for open ears. From endless adrenaline-fuelled rush hours in the studio, to demos on file since 2013, FOREVER is the culminating result of a playground coloured by experimentation. Drawing from various moments in time and their era-defined sounds, FOREVER is a record that gives as much back to the day-one fans, as it does to Lyall and Gruzman.

Hugo and Jimmy on FOREVER: “7 years ago, during an interview for the release of our first album Down To Earth, we joked ‘the next one probably won’t be done ‘til 2020’. And somehow, here we are, staring down the barrel of 2022, holding the product of 5 years work. The best way to describe this album is a combination of where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going. As true as it was from our first release, the foundations and glue for all our work has consistently been ‘collaboration’. That is exemplified by Jono Ma’s integral role in the final, transformational stages of the album process. While our musical journey has always been an intentional exploration of multiple genres, our hearts and roots lie on the dance floor. We applied that same explorative ethos to this record, taking a concerted delve into the previously untouched niches and eras of dance. It’s been a long time coming, and only the same time will tell if it was worth the wait. That deliberation stems from a strive to make the type of music, which lasts as long as our creative process appears to take….’forever’.”

Adding to this year’s new music outpouring, is today’s single “FOREVER” featuring New Zealand brother-sister duo, Broods. A solo synth line playfully darts between Georgia Nott’s voice of smokey-glass precision as a push-pull love song. Defiant and effortlessly cool disco is at the song’s DNA, a tone that Flight Facilities have long mastered with ease, seeing its upbeat and laid back mood lend to any outdoor summer setting as the pair reunite with their New Zealand-based friends.

Hugo and Jimmy on the single, “FOREVER”: “Conceived in 2016, it’s no coincidence that this song ended up with its title, because it felt like a lifetime ago that we were haphazardly throwing down vocals in a Los Angeles lounge-room with Broods. In a rushed ‘vocal session’, which we unsubtly arranged as an excuse to preload for a night out, we came to realise that we’d captured more magic than first thought. Instrumentally, we drew on acts like The Chemical Brothers, Mylo and Underworld throughout the 5 year process. We even cautiously navigated the dangerous waters of late 2000’s EDM, while using Georgia’s delicate voice to diffuse the ostentation of the sound. ‘FOREVER ft. Broods’ feels like the quintessential bridge between our musical origins as Flight Facilities, and our undeniable love of dance music in all its forms.”

“FOREVER” arrives to join the duo’s string of previous singles, including “Move” featuring DRAMA, “The Ghost” and “Lights Up” feat. Channel Tres. Their latest singles have also undergone reworkings from an impressive list of electronic music royalty. While “Move” held an early-day Flight Facilities flavour, its 1980s Chicago house music movement homage recently received remixes from tastemaking contemporaries Loods and kryptogram, while “The Ghost” and “Lights Up” called upon the global heavyweights Honey Dijon, Gerd Janson, Myd, ABSOLUTE. and Mousse T. to bring their undeniable flavours to the already beloved originals. Together, the tracks and their accompanying reworks have received glowing support from international tastemakers including Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Jason Bentley, Jack Saunders and more. Most recently, “Lights Up” feat. Channel Tres was broadcasted globally during Apple’s hugely anticipated iPhone 13 conference.

From their debut 2010 singles “Crave You” feat. Giselle Rosselli and “Foreign Language”, Flight Facilities have sold more than 100,000 tickets and accumulated over half a billion streams globally, and scored three ARIA nominations and gold certification for their debut album Down To Earth in 2014. The pair have seen eight Hottest 100 placings, an ARIA-Award for their 2015 live album Live With The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and widespread appreciation for their feel-good, dance floor beckoning tunes that have seen them collaborate with superstars and blazing up-and-comers alike, including Aloe Blacc, Kylie Minogue and Reggie Watts.

The duo’s worldwide audio-visual event this year, NEVER FOREVER offered Flight Facilities fans a one-time opportunity to hear unreleased music, demos & edits as part of an hour long journey. To celebrate, the pair announced a series of NFTs, including offering one buyer the chance to own the only existing copy of their mixtape in the world.

Wanting to give back to their supporters with FOREVER, Flight Facilities are also offering their biggest fans the opportunity to become life members through winning the FOREVER Club Gold Keyring, granting access to all Flight Facilities headlines shows world-wide for life, completely free. There is one gold keyring per continent to win, and all that’s needed is to pre-order FOREVER on vinyl via the artist store before entries close at 11:59PM AEST on November 12. Adding to the celebrations, the duo have also hinted at an imminent Australian tour announcement, with all FOREVER vinyl, CD or cassette pre-orders in Australia via the artist store giving fans exclusive access and first dibs on tickets in the Australian tour artist pre-sale. Tour dates coming soon…

As one of Australia’s most widely adored and easily recognisable acts, Flight Facilities are ready to extend their next chapter, with a sophomore album FOREVER of decade-defining achievements and summer-ready sounds.
