HOMEGROWN

.

Home is where the heart is, and this March in Victoria home is where an insatiable lineup of home-grown acts will descend on Melbourne and Ballarat for HOMEGROWN, a brand new event featuring an all-star, all-Australian lineup.

With both events headlined by SLOWLY SLOWLY and KISSCHASY, HOMEGROWN will also feature TEEN JESUS AND THE JEAN TEASERS, WAAX, VOID OF VISION, ENOLA and HASSALL in Melbourne on Saturday 16 March at PICA, and THE GETAWAY PLAN, PRESS CLUB, LASHES, and CATHOLIC GUILT on Saturday 23 March at Kyral Castle. Both HOMEGROWN editions will also feature SLOWLY SLOWLY’s pop punk side project TOOSLOW, as well as EMO NEVER SLEEPS DJS.

Acclaimed for their hearfelt lyricism and sonic hooks for days, SLOWLY SLOWLY have spent the past 18 months dazzling the world with countless live shows and brand new music, with their 2022 album Daisy Chain marking a stunning feather in their sonic cap. Debuting at #5 in the Australian ARIA Album Chart, Daisy Chain balances vulnerability with expertly-crafted earworms. Recently touring Daisy Chain nationally as well as a co-headline regional run with Stand Atlantic and unforgettable appearances at Good Things Festival in 2023, the band also performed a heartfelt version of blink-182’s I Miss You for triple j’s Like A Version last year.

Opinions may not keep you warm at night, but iconic Aussie rockers KISSCHASY have kept their legacy burning bright since forming in the early 2000s. Renowned for their infectious blend of pop, rock and emo-tinged sincerity, KISSCHASY returned with gusto in 2022, reuniting and appearing at Good Things Festival before embarking on a national headline tour in 2023. With multiple ARIA Award nominations under their belts, millions of streams and a string of smash singles, including Opinions Won’t Keep You Warm At Night and Do-Do’s And Woahh’s, KISSCHASY also remain a formidable and must-see live act.

Joining the Melbourne HOMEGROWN event, punk purveyors TEEN JESUS AND THE JEAN TEASERS have been channelling Riot grrrl-era energy with a modern twist since busting onto the scene in 2019. Going on to become festival faves, including appearances at Groovin’ The Moo, Laneway, Falls Festival and Spilt Milk, the band have also performed with the likes of Polish Club, Alex Lahey and Dear Seattle.

Also appearing in Melbourne will be Brisbane’s WAAX, with the brand new era for the alt rock and post punk act taking full flight in 2024 as a solo project, helmed by the charismatic Marie DeVita, as well as the explosive stylings of the entity known as VOID OF VISION, with the Melbourne band recently flexing their remarkable metamorphosis via their insatiable single Angel Of Darkness. And also lined up to perform in Melbourne, ENOLA will showcase their exploration of the realms between isolation and catharsis, welding grunge and gaze into their post punk stylings, as well as Melbourne singer-songwriter and self-confessed rambler HASSALL, with her balance of taboo topics, relatable lyrics and lush sensibilities primed to enamour.

Performing along with SLOWLY SLOWLY and KISSCHASY in Ballarat for HOMEGROWN, Melbourne rockers THE GETAWAY PLAN catapulted out of high school into high-profile realms, previously performing at Big Day Out and Groovin’ The Moo, as well as tours with Pierce The Veil, Alexisonfire and more. An enduring sonic staple, the group boast millions of streams and a formidible global fanbase.

Also locked and loaded for Ballarat’s HOMEGROWN event is the loud and proud stylings of Melbourne punks PRESS CLUB, who most recently shared their frenetic wares via their 2022 album Endless Motion, along with Ballarat-raised, Melbourne-based artist LASHES whose musical experimentation has seen her perform with Boo Seeka, Cry Club and more. And with their blend of punk, alt, folk, rock and authenticity, Melbourne’s CATHOLIC GUILT will also be storming the stage in Ballarat, armed with their latest single Can You See Me?.

The pop punk side project of SLOWLY SLOWLY, TOOSLOW will take the stage at both HOMEGROWN events this March, featuring an upbeat barrel of full blown nostalgia, melodic earworms and driving guitars – like a time machine straight back to your teen years when everything was a tad simpler. Emerging in 2023 as a fun outlet for the band and minus any red tape, TOOSLOW unveiled two EPs in 2023, THIS BODY IS A RENTAL and COOL STORY.
