Like a salt water breeze, sun on the skin, the smell of coconut, a sip of mojito, the first mango of the season. It’s the first day of summer and Harvey M has arrived. Incredibly refreshing yet undeniably nostalgic, Harvey M promises to deliver a unique brand of  feel-good house music, guaranteed to evoke thoughts and memories of sunshine, sand and straight up good vibrations.

Presenting not one but two incredible tracks, Harvey M today makes his presence known with the release of ‘You Know That I Love You’ and ‘Love I Give’, presented as a AA-Side titled ‘Love Songs’, out now via Soothsayer.

Picture yourself dancing, sand between your toes on the beaches of Santorini in the year 2000. This is precisely how Harvey M wants you to feel when listening to ‘You Know That I Love You,’, a deep house banger that nods to the likes of Cassius, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada. “The feel-good positivity of the early 2000’s dance world has me absolutely buzzing at the moment,” Harvey M gushes. “I wanted to channel the way this era makes me feel. I’ve been paying keen attention to this moment in time which I believe to be grossly underrated and commonly overlooked.”

‘Love I Give’ aims to evoke a similar sentiment. On the breezy slice of vocal house, Harvey M borrowed inspiration from the 2000 film The Beach (starring Leonardo DiCaprio), specifically UK group All Saints’ ‘Pure Shores’ – a highlight of the movie’s soundtrack. “There are a couple of sounds that echo similarities to ‘Pure Shores’. I reinforced those same feelings of sunshine, water and positivity by scattering wave and whale sounds throughout the track as well,” Harvey M explains.

Harvey M’s sound can best be compared to the early 2000’s dual CD dance compilations found hiding underneath the seat of your best friend’s Mazda hatchback.  It’s a nostalgia for a simpler time, a youth spent under the sun – a time which Harvey looks back at fondly. These elements were often expressed in summer dance music compilations that I listened to as a kid. They remain a strong reference for not only the music I make but the way I choose to live my life’.

So pour yourself a cold drink and make sure to pack the sunscreen, because Harvey M is bringing back dancing this summer!
