Today, talented emerging soul-pop artist JAYDEAN shares his newest single, “Sugar”.

Co-signed by the likes of Ariana Grande, Ruel and Omar Apollo, “Sugar” is a sweet rush of disco-derived grooves and rhythms from JAYDEAN. A flurry of keys and a funk-heavy bass strums along in an introduction matched only in smoothness to the honeyed hues of JAYDEAN’s vocals. Produced by previous collaborator Tentendo and Rob Amoruso, “Sugar” details the addictive euphoria of an intense crush, that’s uplifting and ever hopeful in mood as pulsing melodies carry a harmonised chorus.

JAYDEAN says of the track: “I started writing this song with Tentendo at his home studio, and I told him that I wanted to do something different to the music I had out at the time. I wanted to channel disco and funk because they’re genres that I listened to growing up. It was probably one of the most flowing sessions I’ve ever had. I later passed the track onto Rob Amoruso [who] blew it out of the water. He helped me write the bridge which is based on percussive elements and vocal sound effects.

The song is based around having an intense crush on someone, and thinking about that person constantly, not knowing what it is that makes you feel so drawn to them. All you know is that you want to see them all the time. The use of the word ‘sugar’ is a metaphor because your attraction to this crush is almost like an addiction.”

The love-like-candy hit of “Sugar” follows on from JAYDEAN’s previous single, “I Don’t Care” and his recent collaboration with HANNAH on, “I Wanna” released earlier this year. First rising to prominence after co-writing and featuring on Kaiit’s breakthrough single, “OG Luv Kush pt.2”, JAYDEAN has continued to gather a loyal crowd of followers, enraptured with his easy command of soul-touching songwriting and awe-inspiring voice.
