The cat is out of the bag!

To coincide with its landmark 9th Birthday, Brisbane’s favourite record store Jet Black Cat Music is teaming up with Handsome Tours to present the inaugural Nine Lives Festival.

A one-day, three-stage event to take place indoors and outdoors at the iconic Tivoli, Nine Lives promises to be a very Brissy block party for lovers of tunes, friends and community.

There will be BBQ’s burning, coffee and beverages brewing, dogs tails waggin’, and a world class line-up of artists including Aldous Harding (NZ), Angie McMahonJulia Jacklin, Allah-Las (USA), Kevin Morby (USA), Kikagaku Moyo (Japan), Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and many, many more.

The music will take place across three stages. Indoors will be the gorgeous main theatre inside the Tivoli as well as the very special Double Dingo stage in the What’s Golden room, devoted entirely to showcasing female and gender non-conforming artists.

Outdoors will be an open-air stage in the carpark as well as a summertime bazaar of food-trucks, sausage sizzles, record crates, market stalls and activities for one and all.

The invitation extends to four-legged friends too – with Nine Lives making available a very limited amount of Doggie Tickets so that a handful of quick punters can bring along their favourite pooches!

At the heart of Nine Lives lies its carefully curated line-up, which unites world-class artists from home and abroad.

The captivating Aldous Harding will appear in Brisbane for the first time since 2018, fresh off the release of her acclaimed album Designer and winning the prestigious 2019 Silver Scroll Awards for songwriting in her native New Zealand. Melbourne’s Angie McMahon returns to the city for a glorious victory lap following her sell-out national tour in October off the back of her debut album Salt. Sydney’s Julia Jacklin will make her first Brisbane visit in 12 months, capping off countless capacity crowds around the world, celebrating her sublime sophomore album Crushing.

.

Joining them are Los Angeles’ jangling rock outfit Allah-Las making their first visit to Australia since 2017 as well as American troubadour Kevin Morby returning with his band to celebrate his fifth album Oh My God. Mind-bending Japanese psychedelic outfit Kikagaku Moyo will send shockwaves through the sonic landscape, while Melbourne’s inimitable Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever will get things moving with their kinetic, sunny pop.

If that’s not enough, Nine Lives has invited a bunch of the best up-and-coming acts from across the nation including Buttercats, Desmond Cheese, Elder, First Beige, HANDSOME, Jim Griffin, Nice Biscuit, Pink Matter, Moreton, Sycco and DJ Heartbeats.

Don’t miss this purr-fect day in the Brisbane sunshine. Tickets are extremely limited.

Tickets on sale Friday 25 Oct 11am local Brisbane time (12pm AEDT).
