Today, alt-rocker K.Flay (the stage name of Kristine Flaherty) releases her long-awaited EP ‘Outside Voices” (BMG) – the second half of her 2021 two-part EP release exploring the endless complexities of her inner world. With the help of longtime collaborator friend Tommy English, Sir Sly’s Jason Suwito (MisterWives, Fitz and the Tantrums), and Fast Friends (a trio whose credits include X Ambassadors and Saint Motel), K.Flay created a brilliant body of work that showcases why she is a trailblazer in the alt-pop genre.

“‘Outside Voices’ is the counterpart to ‘Inside Voices,” stated Flaherty “It’s me pausing, taking a moment to reflect on the chaos of the world and of myself, and considering how I might be able to temper that chaos. How I’ve been complicit. How can I change? How can I find beauty in pain? This whole double EP project is an exercise in non-repression in airing my own bits of shame and vulnerability in the hopes that other people connect to those feelings too.”

‘Outside Voices’ finds the Grammy-nominee taking a more reflective view of complex matters such as loss and heartbreak (“Nothing Can Kill Us”),  identity (“Weirdo”), personal agency (“Caramel and Symphonies”), and the corrosive effects of capitalism (“I’m Afraid of the Internet”).

Her Inside Voices’ EP  featured guest appearances by Travis Barker & Tom Morello, and earning praise from the likes of Alternative Press, Guitar World, Substream and Billboard who called it “delightfully irreverent … a collection of angsty, rocked out pop-punk anthems that will have you banging your head and throwing up a middle finger in no time.”

Recently, she released the video to her dreamy, synth-rock ode to embracing the timeless memories of a relationship, “Nothing Can Kill Us”,  starring Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Eve Harlow. Hailed by Billboard as “an exhilarating alt-pop ode to the bulletproof sentiment of new love,” the two showcase the passionate feelings and memories of a relationship, hammering home the true message of the song — being able to embrace the timeless memories of a relationship regardless of the status and how nothing can destroy what it meant to you.

The EP drops in advance of her upcoming 2022 North American tour, which includes stops in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC.

The Chicago-born K.Flay’s near-undefinable combination of dark-electro soundscapes, art-pop sensibilities, spitfire rhymes, industrial rock backbone and versatile vocals has led the songwriter/artist/multi-instrumentalist to two GRAMMY nominations (Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for ‘Every Where Is Some Where’, and Best Rock Song for “Blood in the Cut”), tours alongside Grouplove, Imagine Dragons & Thirty Seconds To Mars, and festival appearances at ACL Fest, Bonnaroo, Coachella, Treefort, and Riot Fest. In addition to her ‘Inside Voices’ EP, she also recently dropped the three-song cover collection ‘Don’t Judge A Song By Its Cover’ that included off-the-wall remakes of songs by Limp Bizkit, The Offspring & Green Day, and appeared on songs by Arkells and Jax Anderson.
