The Handpicked Festival is returning in style, hosting its biggest line up yet with chart-toppers Lime Cordiale, indie rock band Ball Park Music, folk sensation Ziggy Alberts, internationally acclaimed band The Temper Trap, folk-rock band The Waifs and captivating gospel singer Budjerah taking to the stage at Langhorne Creek’s Lake Breeze Wines on Saturday the 11th of November, 2023.

The much-loved festival is making an epic return, following a three-year hiatus due to last year’s unprecedented weather event and Covid causing two postponements.

ARIA award winners, Lime Cordiale will get the crowd on their feet when they bring their sunny, upbeat and groovy sounds to Lake Breeze Wines.

The band from the northern beaches has cemented themselves as Aussie favourites with ten ARIA award nominations and four songs in Triple J’s Hottest 100 list.

“Lime Cordiale are known for their infectious performances and generous interactions with fans. They will no doubt be ready to interact with the crowd which is why we all love them so much. They really fit our vibe at Handpicked,” said Kate Cooper.

Brisbane band, Ball Park Music, will bring a blend of indie rock and pop to the line-up, with hits, Exactly How You Are and It’s Nice to Be Alive.

The five-piece band is having a bumper year, recently setting off on a national tour and playing at Splendour in the Grass.

“We love Ball Park Music. Having not seen them in our backyard since 2018, and knowing their live show has gone from strength to strength is exciting. We feel thrilled to have them back,” said Kate Cooper.

Fresh from sold out shows across the globe on his REWIND World Tour, indie-folk sensation Ziggy Alberts, is set to captivate audiences once again when he returns to Australia later this year.

Ziggy’s unforgettable performances include hits from his iconic album, Laps Around the Sun, as well as songs from his more recent works ‘searching for freedom’ and ‘DANCING IN THE DARK’.

The twenty-nine-year-old singer songwriter is redefining the future of folk music, with his ever- evolving sound as he creates honest and personal music about his relationships with others and the planet.

“We have been chasing Ziggy for a number of years now. To finally be able to host him in our backyard is dream,” said Handpicked creator Kate Cooper.

The Temper Trap

Indie, rock band, The Temper Trap, is set to delight festival goers with its unique blend of indie rock, pop and electronic music.

After playing sold out shows across the globe, the ARIA award winning band will perform its biggest hits from, Conditions, Thick as Thieves and The Temper Trap which soared to number one in Australia.

“With more than one million albums sold, a number one album in their homeland and arena support tours with Coldplay and the Rolling stones, we are pretty stoked to have secured such an Australian success story in our line up,” said Kate Cooper.

The Waifs

After notching up thirty years in the music industry, The Waifs will take crowds on a journey of their biggest hits from Up All Night, Sun Dirt Water and Temptation.

The multi-ARIA award winning band who are fresh from their global tour will get the crowd on its feet with beloved tracks including London Still which went to number three on Triple J’s Hottest 100.

“With thirty years in the industry, The Waifs are music royalty. They bring a sense of professionalism through story-telling and laughter. They’re also two sisters who formed the band, so naturally, my sister and I feel quite a connection already,” said Kate Cooper.

After a stand-out year, two-time ARIA award-winning Coodjinburra artist, Budjerah will captivate festival goers with his new hit single, Therapy and album Conversations.

The gospel singer is fresh from supporting Ed Sheeran on his Australian stadium tours and Vance Joy on his Australian, North American and UK tours.

“What an incredible new talent Budjerah is. He is pushing boundaries vocally with his recent R&B and pop cross over on his new single. No doubt Budjerah is one to watch, so we cannot wait to welcome him to the Handpicked stage,” said Kate Cooper.

Home-grown talent will also take centre stage, with local artists aleksiah and Rob Edwards bringing their unique sounds.

The family-run event is a complete sensory experience, showcasing Lake Breeze’s award-winning wines, food trucks serving delicious local produce, captivating cocktail forest, and a diverse range of local arts, crafts, jewellery and homewares at The Lane.

Following last year’s heartbreaking cancellation, Kate Cooper says the outpouring of support from the community has been overwhelming.

“Handpickers have been beyond supportive. We were still receiving messages of support months after the event. To see the community backing us and taking the time to reach out made the world of difference,” said Kate.

Festival goers are being urged to act quickly if they want to secure tickets, with thirty percent of tickets already sold.

“After last year’s cancellation punters had the chance to hold onto their tickets for the 2023 event. It was heartwarming to see that so many chose to keep their tickets, knowing the line-up would be completely different and new,” said Kate Cooper.

The Department for Industry, Innovation and Science through the Music Development Office and the South Australian Tourism Commission through Events South Australia has helped make the Handpicked Festival’s comeback possible.

“The Malinauskas Government is proud to support the return of Handpicked Festival, attracting some huge names in Australian music to Langhorne Creek for a celebration of good music, local food and wine.

“Our Live Music Events Fund was established to help festivals like Handpicked grow into major tourist drawcards, which not only provide jobs for local musicians and crews but benefit small communities,” said Minister for Arts, the Hon, Andrea Michaels MP.

The Handpicked Festival will kick off on Saturday November 11th at Lake Breeze Winery, Langhorne Creek. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased from HERE.
