Motez’s euphoric collaboration with The Kite String Tangle takes another leap today working with immensely talented visual artist Aymeric to release the official video clip for ‘Give Me Space’ further announcing the release of a series of NFTs as an extension of the world created within the clip. With the record itself inspired by Motez’s immersion with 80s dance music, a similar nostalgia is embedded throughout the clip translating to a move into the NFT space. With the boom of NFTs in its infancy Motez, The Kite String Tangle and Aymeric looked to ‘Give Me Space’ as an opportunity for musicians and visual artists to collaborate in ways not fully explored before, with the digital collectibles set to be available Sunday 18th April.

In a time where many have experienced feelings of isolation, the video clip is centred around that pertinent feeling of escapism following an old school toy astronaut, known as the ‘Dreamer’ who seeks an escape from his own confinements. The film clip is situated in a dimly lit run-down office and is littered with nostalgic easter eggs and pop-culture references. In a gritty setting however, the astronaut expresses a hopeful sentiment.  Finding the means and comfort in his current surroundings the Dreamer creates his own escape, becoming lost in the simplicity and endless possibilities of his own imagination. A simple, beautifully composed 3D animated story that along with the release of NFTs signals a move past a global pandemic and into an optimistic future.

The toy astronaut, a focus of the film clip, will be one of five collectibles available in the NFT drop which is set to be hosted on $MEME, a decentralised protocol for farming NFTs, and a platform that Aymeric himself has steadily built a following on among collectors and fellow artists since his first NFT release in January. With a film clip that is oozing with nostalgia, Motez and The Kite String Tangle looked to Aymeric to orchestrate the release, allowing fans to own a series of digital collectibles featured in the ‘Give Me Space’ video. 10% of all proceeds from the NFT release will be donated to Cool Earth, a charity that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and its impact on climate change.

On the premise behind the video, and collaboration with Aymeric, Motez said, “We wanted the video to further shed light on the story of the song from a relatively abstract angle but keeping the emotional side present, and for that I needed somebody who truly understood what the song is about and who could channel all of that into the video. Aymeric was the perfect partner for that. He’s a prolific, talented and well-established artist and animator who was the perfect collaborator for the visual component of ‘Give Me Space’. I wanted to use our mascot as a proxy to tell the story of somebody who’s been stuck in a world they want to escape, like all of us, he finds escapism through a screen. For me, that was important to signify that so many of us around the world, during lockdowns, isolation and quarantine over the last year, have escaped this new harsh and isolating reality by constantly looking at our screen. It gave us the space to dream and imagine life before, and after, the newfound reality of isolation.

Aymeric spoke on how the single connected with him, “When I first heard the song I’d been in lockdown and isolation here in Paris for over 6 months. I think this situation had me longing for some form of escapism which I wanted to explore on a creative level and the video clip was the perfect canvas. At a time when millions of people around the world are stuck in their homes during this pandemic, The Dreamer is there to help them see beyond their visible confines. Through the power of imagination, people can transform their current surroundings into a space of infinite possibilities.

Give Me Space’ has already seen a wealth of love with a premiere on triple j, and the likes of Purple Sneakers, EARMILK, EDM.com, and Pilerats supporting Motez’s latest creation. Beyond ‘Give Me Space Motez has cemented himself as a leading electronic producer in Australia, with the platinum accredited record ‘The Future feat. Antony & Cleopatra’ as well as dance-floor favourite ‘Down Like This feat. Tkay Maidza’. While more recently, the Adelaide via Baghdad producer has released dynamic electronic records such as, ‘Where Have You Been’, and ‘Give Your Heart Away’ both of which scored support from triple j, Kiss FM (UK) and KCRW (US). In 2020, Motez also showcased a different side of his sound with the release of ‘Soulitude’, an EP that saw  Motez win best release, best music video and best electronic artist at the 2020 South Australian music awards.
