Nyxen has released her new video for current singleTunnelswhich is a colourful, one-shot moody visual art piece filmed in Sydney.

Speaking about the video’s creation Nyxen shares, “Tunnels always takes me back to a specific time in my life, so it was important to capture the emotion of that period and I guess the attitude of the song in the music video. It all fell into place with Pat Santamaria from Babekuhl, I love working with him, it always feels like we’re on the same page with the visual world of Nyxen”.

She explains, “There were a few ideas for the setting of the music video floating around. I’d been on a few scouting adventures around Sydney walking through old Tunnels, but Pat came up with the idea to use a treadmill and projector to make a trippy one-shot film clip. Pat worked with Lee Taylor on the Tunnel animation, and it was filmed in the gallery of the Motorik store in Sydney with Pat and me. The clip was filmed in double speed to create the effect we ended up with so there were a few stacks before we got the shot you see in the music video”.

The single released last month via BMG/Tank Top Records, is an intoxicating guitar and bass driven track, carried by Nyxen’s earthy vocal that unfolds itself into a distinctive yet familiar sound. It explores and demonstrates the breadth of Nyxen’s musicality and welcomes us further into her latest exciting era.

Nyxen shared about the new single, “Tunnels is a special release for me, it evolved over two years and is a pretty accurate depiction of my anxieties at the start of/in relationships. I’ve always been focused on conveying the emotion/message of a song within the instrumentation and I feel that really shows with Tunnels. The guitars and drums have this feeling to them that really gets me. Not going to lie, I think I’m my biggest fan with this one, but it feels good to put music out that makes me feel that way.”

Since her debut in 2015 Nyxen has amassed millions of streams, attracted a loyal following and asserted her status in the live electronic scene known for her considered synth work, mellow guitars, driving bass layered with her distinctive vocals. Since inception, Nyxen has maintained a presence across some of Australia and New Zealand’s biggest festivals including Field Day, Listen Out, Splendour in the Grass, Big Pineapple Festival, Mardi Gras NZ and Bay Dreams NZ. Plus, a sold-out headline tour across Australia in 2019.

Moving forward with glimpses of Nyxen’s captivating live show throughout 2021 and hints of more new music on the horizon, her ambitions remain limitless. It all alludes that the best is yet to come continuing to win hearts across dancefloors proving Nyxen has truly created a unique space for herself at the intersection of electronic, indie, pop and dance music.
