Co-produced with Tony Buchen (Montaine, Mansionair, The Preatures), Nathan pays tribute to the man that landed him his first record deal and tour at age 10, Jimmy Barnes, by bringing Cold Chisel’s ‘Rising Sun’ into his own musical world. With sleazy swamp riffs over hip hop implied beats and Diesel on backing vocals, the cover is barely recognisable as an Aussie classic, leaning more towards contemporary gritty blues overtones.

“When attempting to renovate a classic, Cold Chisel is like Led Zeppelin – approach with caution, but I guess my creative intuition wanted the challenge. The words of their most bluesy song spontaneously found it’s way on top of a saucy half time riff that I’d been jamming with for months. It’s a banger in a recliner seat and one of the crowd favourites live!”

‘Rising Sun’ is the second release from the upcoming EP, ‘Demons’, stretching beyond the traditional rock blues roots that Cavaleri is known for, and is an emotive step from the profoundly beautiful first single – the title track ‘Demons’. The release of single ‘Demons’ marked his 6 year rise above mental health challenges and return to the stage.

Cavaleri returns after playing sell out gigs up and down the East Coast in October/November, seeing him connect intimately with new and lifetime fans through both story and song. From how his love for music deepened during his battle with leukaemia as a kid, to a hilarious encounter with Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Robert Plant after playing to sixty thousand people in Zurich after Elton John.

However, it’s how he brings his experiences and songs into the present that gives audiences more than a shot of nostalgia.

“I’ve always wanted to pay respect musically to a family that took a big chance on me. Not only does it feel awesome to release my take on one of my favourite Cold Chisel songs, but to have my dear friend Mark Lizotte (Diesel) on backing vocals makes it all the more sweet.”

‘Rising Sun’ will take Nathan into 2019 which will see the release of critically acclaimed ‘29 Gold Stars’ and the irrepressible ‘Hug’. Festival and tour announcements to follow.

‘Rising Sun’ will be released nationally through Gyrostream Monday 3rd December, and available through AMRAP and on all streaming sites, including Spotify, iTunes and through nathancavaleri.com.
