Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: The Weeknd ‘Blinding Lights’ – After two weeks at #2, Canadian artist The Weeknd returns to the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Blinding Lights’. It’s the eleventh week in the top spot for the single from The Weeknd’s former #1 album After Hours (#1 Mar. ’20). It joins Drake’s ‘God’s Plan’ (#1 Feb. ’18), the Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ (#1 Nov. ’96) and Bryan Adams’ ‘Everything I Do (I Do It For You)’ (#1 Jul. ’91), all of whom also spent eleven weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

#10: Surfaces ‘Sunday Best’ – In its ninth week in the Top 50, ‘Sunday Best’ by American duo Surfaces moves up one spot to hit the Top Ten for the first time. The track gained attention due to its use on TikTok. It’s also gone Top Ten in Canada and New Zealand.

#14: Megan Thee Stallion ‘Savage’ – Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Savage’ continues its race up the chart, moving up five more spots this week to a new peak at #14. The single is also the rapper’s highest charting hit in the UK and Canada.

#23: Jack Harlow ‘Whats Poppin’ – A week on from making his debut at #35, American rapper/songwriter Jack Harlow jumps up twelve spots to #23 with ‘Whats Poppin’. Harlow’s debut single on the ARIA Charts comes from his EP Sweet Action which is starting to climb charts around the world.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: Dua Lipa ‘Future Nostalgia’ – Two weeks after making its debut, Dua Lipa’s second album, Future Nostalgia, hits #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for the first time. The follow-up to the English pop artist’s self-titled debut (#8 Apr. ’18) spent its first two weeks on the chart at #2. Three singles from Future Nostalgia are in this week’s Top 50: ‘Don’t Start Now’ (#4), ‘Break My Heart’ (#8) and ‘Physical’ (#9). It was also Dua Lipa’s first #1 album in the UK.

#7: Nightwish ‘Human. :II: Nature.’ – Finnish metal band Nightwish take out their first Top Ten album on the ARIA Charts with Human. :II: Nature. The group’s ninth studio album takes over from previous studio release Endless Forms Most Beautiful (#16 Apr. ’15) as their highest peak. It’s Nightwish’s first double album.

#10: Tory Lanez ‘The New Toronto 3’ – Releasing The New Toronto 3, his fifth studio album, Canadian rapper Tory Lanez scores a new chart peak. It’s the follow-up to Chixtape 5 (#18 Nov. ’19) and is his third album to chart in the ARIA Top 50. The first two installments in the New Toronto series were released as mixtapes in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

#21: The Strokes ‘The New Abnormal’ – American indie rock heroes The Strokes return with The New Abnormal. Produced by Rick Rubin, it’s the New York band’s sixth studio album and their first since Comedown Machine (#7 Apr. ’13). Between albums, most of the band’s members released solo/side project albums. The Strokes topped the Albums Chart with fourth album Angles (#1 Mar. ’11).
