Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: SAINt JHN ‘Roses’ – In its seventh week in the Top 50, SAINt JHN’s ‘Roses’ hits #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Originally released by the American rapper in July 2016, its success comes after a remix was released by Kazakh producer Imanbek. To date ‘Roses’ has spent two weeks at #1 in the UK.

#7: Dua Lipa ‘Break My Heart’ – As well as debuting at #2 with new album, Future Nostalgia, Dua Lipa claims another Singles Chart entry with ‘Break My Heart’. It becomes the third single from the album to hit the Top Ten after ‘Don’t Start Now’ (#2 Dec. ’19) and ‘Physical’ (peaking at #9 this week), as well as Dua Lipa’s sixth career Top Ten entry. The last artist to have three entries in the Singles Chart Top Ten in the same week was Ed Sheeran, who had ‘Beautiful People’ at #4, ‘I Don’t Care’ at #5 and ‘Cross Me’ at #7 in July 2019.

#20: Endor ‘Pump It Up’ – Six weeks into its chart run Endor’s ‘Pump It Up’ jumps six spots to hit a new peak at #20. The remix of Belgian artist Danzel’s 2004 single peaked at #8 in the UK in January.

#23: Megan Thee Stallion ‘Savage’ – Megan Thee Stallion makes her Top 50 debut with ‘Savage’. The track comes from the American rapper’s third EP, Suga, which was released in March. The song’s popularity has boomed after the ‘Savage’ dance challenge took off on TikTok.

#28: PARTYNEXTDOOR, Rihanna ‘Believe It’ – PARTYNEXTDOOR and Rihanna team up for ‘Believe It’. The single becomes Canadian artist PARTYNEXTDOOR’s first Top 50 entry as a lead artist. It’s Rihanna’s first appearance on a single since the N*E*R*D release ‘Lemon’ (#44 Apr. ’18). ‘Believe It’ is featured on the PARTYNEXTDOOR album PARTYMOBILE, which debuts at #22 this week.

#1: 5 Seconds Of Summer ‘CALM’ – Sydney band 5 Seconds Of Summer snare their fourth #1 album on the ARIA Charts with CALM. Coming two years on from Youngblood (#1 Jun. ‘18), the album features the singles ‘Easier’ (#12 Jun. ’19) and ‘Teeth’ (#15 Sept. ’19), as well as new Top 50 entry ‘Old Me’ (#39 this week). 5SOS’ first two #1s were with their self-titled debut (#1 Jul. ’14) and Sounds Good Feels Good (#1 Nov. ’15). 5 Seconds Of Summer become the second Australia group, after Silverchair, to have their first four studio albums debut at #1 on the ARIA Charts.

CALM is the third Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2020.

#2: Dua Lipa ‘Future Nostalgia’ – Releasing her second album, Future Nostalgia, Dua Lipa takes out a career best peak on the ARIA Albums Chart. The album appears three years on from her self-titled debut (#8 Apr. ’18), which has spent 77 weeks to date in the Top 50. Future Nostalgia includes the Top Ten singles ‘Don’t Start Now’ (#2 Dec. ’19), ‘Physical’ (#9 Apr. ’20), and the new single ‘Break My Heart’ (debuting at #7).

#3: Pearl Jam ‘Gigaton’ – American rock veterans Pearl Jam take out their twelfth Top Ten on the ARIA Albums Chart with Gigaton. The Seattle band’s eleventh studio album is their first since Lightning Bolt (#1 Oct. ’13). In 2017 Pearl Jam was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Pearl Jam have previously hit #1 with Vs. (#1 Oct. ’93), Vitalogy (#1 Dec. ’94), No Code (#1 Aug. ’96), Yield (#1 Feb. ’98), Binaural (#1 May ’00), Riot Act (#1 Nov. ’02) and Backspacer (#1 Sept. ’09).

#5: The Chats ‘High Risk Behaviour’ – Sunshine Coast garage punk The Chats release their debut album, High Risk Behaviour. Formed in 2016 when the band’s three members were in high school in Noosa, The Chats have previously released two EPs: 2016’s self-titled EP and 2017’s Get This In Ya!!

#9: Joyner Lucas ‘ADHD’ – American hip hop artist Joyner Lucas makes his Albums Chart debut with ADHD. The album includes Lucas’ first Singles Chart entry ‘ISIS’ (#41 Jun. ’19), along with collaborations with Logic, Young Thug, Timbaland and more. Prior to the release of ADHD, Joyner Lucas released a handful of mixtapes and remixed works by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Future and Meek Mill.

#44: The Wiggles ‘Fun And Games’ – The Wiggles take out their first new chart entry for 2020 Fun And Games. The follow-up to Party Time! (#30 Jul. ’19) becomes the iconic children’s group’s eleventh appearance in the ARIA Top 50. In the last week The Wiggles have released a new song, ‘Social Distancing’, to teach kids the importance of staying home and regularly washing their hands.
