Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: The Weeknd ‘Blinding Lights’ – Despite some strong competition, The Weeknd has held on to the #1 spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for a second week with ‘Blinding Lights’. Just over a month since its release, the track snuck into the Triple J Hottest 100 at #79.

#2: Tones And I ‘Dance Monkey’ – As it hits its 30th week in the Top 10, ‘Dance Monkey’ again holds the #2 spot. It was a big week for Tones And I’s all-conquering hit; not only did it appear at #4 in the Triple J Hottest 100, it passed 1 billion plays on Spotify.

#3: Billie Eilish ‘Bad Guy’ – ‘Bad Guy’ soars up 18 spots to return to the Top Ten for a 24th week. This week Billie Eilish’s former #1 single scored huge accolades on opposite sides of the globe; first coming in at #1 in the Triple J Hottest 100 and then winning Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year at the Grammy Awards. Eilish’s latest single ‘everything i wanted’ has moved back up to #11.

#8: Flume Feat. Vera Blue ‘Rushing Back’ – On the back of placing #2 in the Hottest 100, Flume’s ‘Rushing Back’ cracks the Top Ten for the first time. The Vera Blue collaboration previously hit #15 last November.

#23: Sofi Tukker ‘Purple Hat’ – After dropping back to #40 last week, Sofi Tukker’s ‘Purple Hat’ jumps 17 spots to hit a new peak at #23. The New York duo’s track was #14 in the Hottest 100.

#1: Billie Eilish ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ – American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish returns to the top spot on the ARIA Albums Chart with her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Its return comes after it took out Grammy Award for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Debuting at #1 in April 2019, it spent seven non-consecutive weeks at the top during last year and was #1 on the 2019 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart. Eilish’s EP Dont Smile At Me (#6 Feb. ’19) has climbed seven to #18.

#8: Pet Shop Boys ‘Hotspot’ (debut) – British dance-pop legends the Pet Shop Boys return with Hotspot, their 14th studio album. The duo has labelled the album the last in a trilogy that also included Electric (#24 Jul. ’13) and Super (#12 Apr. ’16). It features contributions by former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler and London synth-pop band Years & Years. The Pet Shop Boys’ highest peak on the chart was with Very (#2 Oct. ’93). Hotspot is #1 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

#23: G Flip ‘About Us’ – G Flip jumps 16 spots to #23 with her debut album, About Us. The Melbourne artist scored four entries in this year’s Hottest 100, with ‘Drink Too Much’ ranking the highest at #6.

#31: Thelma Plum ‘Better In Blak’ – Thelma Plum re-enters the Top 50 at #31 with her ARIA-nominated debut Better In Blak. Plum took out three Hottest 100 spots, with the album’s title track taking out the highest spot at #9.

#40: Tyler, The Creator ‘Igor’ – After taking out two Hottest 100 spots and winning Best Rap Album at the Grammy, Tyler, The Creator returns to the chart at #40 with Igor.
