Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: Childish Gambino ‘This Is America’ – A week on from debuting at #7, ‘This Is America’ jumps up six spots to become Childish Gambino’s first #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The track recently hit #1 in the US, Canada and New Zealand; also his first #1 in those territories.

#3: 5 Seconds Of Summer ‘Youngblood’ – Cracking the Top Ten for the first time last week, 5 Seconds Of Summer’s ‘Youngblood’ moves up a further six spots to #3. It becomes the group’s second-highest chart peak along with ‘Don’t Stop’ (#3 Jun. ’14).

#9: Amy Shark ‘I Said Hi’ – Moving up four spots, ‘I Said Hi’ becomes Amy Shark’s second Top Ten on the ARIA Singles Chart. It’s the track’s fifth week in the Top 50.

#12: Anne-Marie ‘2002’ – In its fourth week in the Top 50, ‘2002’ by Anne-Marie jumps up twelve spots to #12. It becomes the English artist’s third-highest charting track as lead artist.

#15: Selena Gomez ‘Back To You’ (Debut) – Selena Gomez picks up her first Singles Chart entry for 2018 with ‘Back To You’. The track features on the soundtrack to the second season of the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. In 2017, Gomez charted with ‘It Ain’t Me’ (#4 Mar. ’17), ‘Bad Liar’ (#13 May ’17), ‘Fetish’ (#23 Jul. ’17) and ‘Wolves’ (#5 Nov. ’17).

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: Arctic Monkeys ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ (Debut) – Returning with their sixth album, British indie band Arctic Monkeys take out their third #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino is the quartet’s first album since AM (#1 Sept. ’13). They first topped the Albums Chart with debut Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not (#1 Feb. ’06). Between Arctic Monkeys releases, front man Alex Turner charted with Everything You’ve Come To Expect (#9 Apr. ’16), the second album from his side project The Last Shadow Puppets.

#4: Delta Goodrem ‘I Honestly Love You’ (Debut) – Delta Goodrem takes on the Olivia Newton-John songbook on I Honestly Love You. The album is the soundtrack to the miniseries Olivia: Hopelessly Devoted To You in which Goodrem portrays Newton-John. Goodrem last charted with Wings Of The Wild (#1 Jul. ’16).

#7: Charlie Puth ‘Voicenotes’ (Debut) – American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth picks up a second Top Ten album with Voicenotes. Puth’s second studio album comes two years on from Nine Track Mind (#8 Feb. ’16) and includes the singles ‘Attention’ (#10 Jul. ’17) and ‘How Long’ (#17 Dec. ’17), as well as guest appearances by Kehlani, Boyz II Men and James Taylor.

#9: Bad Wolves ‘Disobey’ (Debut) – After success on the Singles Chart earlier in the year with their cover of The Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’ (#26 Apr. ’18), metal supergroup Bad Wolves make their Albums Chart debut with Disobey. Prior to the album’s release, the five-piece released the EPs False Flags, Volume 1 and False Flags, Volume 2 in March and April, respectively.

#12: Imagine Dragons ‘Evolve’ – As Imagine Dragons hit the halfway point of their Australian tour, Evolve, the band’s third album, jumps back up ten spots to #12. The album peaked at #4 in July 2017.
